I just read in one of the forum's that Melbourne Docks is the best venue in Victoria, I personally dislike the docks - although I am yet to party there in the warmer weather - and I just wanted to know what everyone's favorite venues are. I had the privledge of partying at Global Village in Footscray a few years back, and that was an awesome venue.

So, tell us your fav venue, from clubs to bigger scale, just going by the venue, not music, people, etc etc etc

The Palace in St KIlda is probably the best big venue going when they open up the whole joint, but for a special treat get down to any party at the forum on the corner of Flinders and Russell - this place is special!

Also, don't forget Storey Hall (RMIT) - the phreaked out design of the venue and the acoustics are awesome, only problem is the only people to do parties there are Wetmusik (all ages), and you need to deal with all sorts of little babies running around with their shirts off.

Well Wet are using the forum for their next party!!!! *wink wink*

I am looking forward to seeing this venue as I have heard very good reports on it. I also love Storey Hall.....WOW!!!!!

The Flower Centre is pretty impressive as well

As far as clubs goes- Billboards is probably my favorite venue *cough* I like Hi Fi Bar as well- but it just gets a little too hot in there! As far as parties- the design of Storey Hall is fantastic! And i'd have to agree with mike that the forum is one amazing place... And yes James- the flower centre was pretty impressive. As far as the docks- well definatley no where close to the best venue in Melbourne- in fact i'd have to say the little warehouse that my friends found in Arden St. Nth Melbourne is drawing on close to the best venue :)) *smilez* hahaha Anyone that attended forbidden some months ago will know what I'm talking about :)

I have heard too that Kryal Castle is something insane. Can someone shed some light on this?

james: Kryal Castle is indeed an amazing place to stage a party, I mean its a medieval castle with an amazing maze that has to be seen to be believed! I've been up the last 2 years and if you can withstand the freezing cold weather (it gets to around 0 at night) then the place is great. If you intend to come down to Melbourne for Universe 2001 (on February 17, 2001) make sure you bring ample warm clothes as it gets very cold up Ballarat way!

And yep, Flower Centre and Kryal get my vote as best party venues.

As for clubs, I really like Billboards (only been once), Capsule (only been once too) and the Hi Fi Bar (nice place to chill out and relax!).

Kryal Castle is by far my fave venue, but yet again, it all comes down to personal preference, I for one love shed 14...but yeh nothing beats the open surroundings at Kryal!

Gotta say I love Billboards....up on stage is awesome every time. Anyone who went to Frantic Freeland 2 would probably agree that it was pretty good fun out in the courtyard at Swinny :) haha As for Forbidden it was good fun..shame we all looked like we'd been in a coal mine afterwards :P

Hmmmm, well without a doubt Altona - when it was used for EPTAS 14 - 16, and of course the first war of the worlds. By the time it got to Madass 5 it had really died (or they killed it). I agree with kryal of course - even though you can see over the top of the maze (and if you go in the out you go directly to the centre SCORE!!!)
Global village is another beautiful venue, and while on the docks side of things Shed 9 where they hold the darntootin parties - especially in the morning when the shed doors are opened onto the water.

Worst venue - little shed in footscray where they held Class War

Best outdoor Venue - Mt Dissapointment YYYAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!

I guess we need to break the "favourite venue" into two segments - big venues and then the smaller weekly ones that happen.

Big venues would have to be with The Forum. Fill it with the right DJs, sound and lighting equipment and you'll never forget the experience. It would have to be one of the "primo" establishment available in Melbourne!

As for the smaller venues - you really can't go past Virus (downstairs Inflations). It's small, cramped but the sound really blows you away because you can't escape it.

yeah i agree, separate it out into small weekly stuff and the larger, one-off parties:

for big venues.. every picture 20 I think it was, out at that new venue miles out of the city? really smooth floor great for dancing, the sheds were all close together and created a kinda windbreak. only problem was the concrete surface in the 3rd shed - way too rough, chopped up the shoes something shocking..

for weekly club nights, call me biased but its gotta be billboards. where else can you jump up on stage and large it right next to where the dj's are playing. and it's got that freaky feel to it cos you have to go 2 levels underground :) also a great venue if you're the type that just likes to chill and watch for a while - u can watch the action on the decks without getting hassled by security. ok i've only ever been there for kandy but it still roqs :)
