There's no question in Sydney, everyone knows the worst nightclub in town is ARQ, but what about Melbourne?
What's the worst feckin nightclub in melbourne?
nominations include:
* Heat (even though I've never been there, I just KNOW it's bad)
* anything in the south eastern suburbs (is 21st century still around?!)
* Chasers
of course, the list goes on, but i don't want to influence anyone's decision!
I thnk metro is because of all the dam Marios that go there and the fuking stiky dance floor.
I will give you my worst 'Clubs' aka meat market, slut haven, wanka haven.....
Transformers in Moorabbin - went here when I was about 16, but some people still go....
Wild Bills, this is actually in a shopping centre and you have to be 16 and in practically in bikini's to get in
And anything in Frankston, yes the 21st Century is still around, and I have heard claims that they play doof, oh my god, yeah right!!! Frankston Bogans Doof?? I wonder what they call doof?
What a strange & opiniated topic - well yeah each 2 their own wld b a bit fairer don't u think - i mean i 4 1 cld slam all the steroided up Himbos and Bimbos that populate NV big time getting their rocks of to that High NRG shite BUT hey - they enjoy it - won't even mention DCM's & a couple of other Oxford St specials - then there's GAS but as mentioned above gotta be fair
unsure about Melbs as never been there
sure as hell miss (the original) Sublime - also interesting how clubs 'evolve' for eg Home once had quite a noticeable gay component (remember Sunday Nites last year)....no longer
Clubs or Not Clubs? - Manning Bldg Sucked for GateCrasher but Macquarie Uni Dining Hall (or woteva it was) - Atrium(?) very impressive for Oakenfold...
My mark goes to Chevron on a Thursday night. Going back around 4 years ago I got alcohol poisoning twice there due to the crud that they would try to pass off as alcohol.
In a remarkable twist though, their reputation has been lifted hugely ever since Hardware did Freeware and now it's one of the most popular veunes to hold large multi-roomed parties in.
Other nasties include:
Jooce nightclub (never been)
Daisy's (never been)
Metro (great veune just crap regular club nights)
QBH (this *cough* "superclub" already looks dated and always has a bad crowd)
Chasers
Kitsu - how long have you been going out for? Chevron's cred has been lifted since Hardware did a free party. Bollocks. Remember Rotation w/ Space DJZ July last year. Or Derrick Carter early 1999? Or the last two years of Freakazoid? They've all been at Chevron.

I got alcoholic poisoning at chevvy too. but that was a FEW years ago and i did drink a fair bit. But I'm always happy share the blame!!
BTW, re Chevvy's rep improving, I was pretty surprised when Freeware was put in the place so i guess with a few stragglers their rep was still languishing.
Even though freakazoid is in the same building as the chev, is it really considered to be part of the Chevron.
and finally, Billboards USED to have the worst rep in the world. What's it like these days after HK's stint there (or was it some other party like that?)

QBH is mad on a Saturday, The Metro is huge. Funny how It is all the places that you don't go to now that you think stink! Nightclubs are about entertainment and drinking, some make money, others dont, and others a fronts for runners. You classify the most successful clubs as the worst ones. Geez, you suck.
I smell people stuck up their own asses here on inthemix... doesn't surprise me though. You go Miyake, they go CK1. Who has more fun though!
Remember that Andy Van started out in the Frankston clubs. He is one of the few who are still, like, cool.
The Digby bros. used to be Metro top bill on Fridays (then they were shite like they are now).

the only problem with clubs in melbourne is that all the so called "super clubs" or new clubs are considered @!#$ cos of bad promotion.
Lets have a look at the metro for example its just had 3 million dollars to make it look good. with a brand new sound system etc... But if for Eg. Future Ent. would run saturdays (slide) there then it would be a good club.....
Then there is Sirens which also has a good sound system, QBH, Salt Club, Heat, etc....
So think about it is really the actual club or they just have bad promotion which doesn't fell your muzik needs....? If it doesn't meet your needs just get a couble of people together and run the night there .....
Bad promotion? We're used to a different level of promotion. I have had some ace times at QBH and Salt and Seven and fucken Double 0, it's all good.
Promotion could be classier for the judgemental, know it all, taste-meisters like us, but @!#$, there's some good DJ's skilled at the art of keeping a room full of clubbers happening. QBH. on a Saturday night with Panos, Ollie D and Alex Kay, they get (literaly) over 3000 people through the door. Remember too that QBH is ONE BIG @!#$ OFF ROOM. it takes talent to bring those numbers in for _only_ ONE BIG @!#$ OFF ROOM.
It may not be classy promotion, but lots of people know and lots of people go. As for the Metro - nearly renovated... fits 2000 ppl - yeah, okay, their gatecrasher imagery is pretty lame... OK, it is not in the same league as QBH. Seb. I am not a wog. You'll learn as you grow up that its not "who you are", it's how YOU are. and your mother is a lap cushion!

Entertainment and drinking....promotion....sound and lighting. All you guys want to define what a good club is by different standards, which is why we're all coming up with different opinions. There is no one way to determine what is the "best" nightclub. It is different for different people. I personally go on the music played and the crowd...So, for me Freakazoid is the answer....but that's not for everyone. I may not get the whole NRG thing but HK by all reports goes off each week because the people who go there want to be there and enjoy the crowd there. So, while i may have never been to the Metro or QBH and may never end up going there i can't begrudge the people who do enjoy it. Each to their own is the name of the game :))

Yeah I pretty much think The Marquee in South Melbourne - commercial commercial commercial - NOT even a hint of HOUSE or something innovative - I love house but feel intimidated by the attiude of most that frequent these clubs. From all reports I might like Chaise Lounge, Double O & Glow Bar in Queen St - but I'm not quite sure. But I do know that Marquee is terrible (people with ties r even spotted there (& there are always more than one - seriously))
True everyone has their own judgements of clubs. But its actually how good of a time you've had at that club that makes you go back. Wether it b the muzik, the architecture, the people all these things are what create ultimate club experience.
For QBH been the biggest club in the sothern hemisphere .....i don't think so....its just a huge marketing campaign for them...i think they are the only people who bothered to chek their plans and then cheked the area of the others and said hey ...we are the biggest club cos none of the other clubs care....Take a club in argentina for example where (cream uk) hold their events and has a capacity of 5000 people. How can this be right....? i let you answer that one......

I dont know if u are speaking from experience about ARQ, but i have been there several times and had a excellent time. great music, good vibe.
you just have to go there with some girls so the blokes dont get you.
Ben, at the end of the day, in a foreign city, you;ll rave about a "name" club becuase it is in a foreign city. Has anyone actually listened to the music at overseas clubs which are streaming on the net, it is commercial, maybe two months ahead, but commercial, known, popular, well known HITS! has anyone been to Sheffield to check out Gatecrasher? Do they play Black Legend, 9PM, Artful Dodger? Think so.
As for Marketing campaign, what makes QBH different to Two Tribes, Hardware? At the end of the day these hyped up big parties are there to make money and a lot of it. Now you want to know abotu marketing campaigns, how many Oakey and Chicane posters did you see for Perfecto on poles, in EVERY magazine, bus stops and train stations (almost!). Does bringing out these acts automatically garner credibility? We'd rather see the cred over hyped oakeys, and tongies etc than our local talent at QBH! Never mind that the oakeys and tongies have credibility from cornering a market and getting all the good tunes because of WHO they are instead of what they are.
same thing is happening in melbourne, but on a smaller scale, Quinns, Digbys, Byrnes, etc. It's a closed shop creating credibility. And 14 year olds are suckered into it. Oh @!#$ it. The first time I heard Black Legend it was on Andy Van's show on Kiss. The Whistle Song is on Vicious Vinyl.

My god this place is ugly! Not only is the venue sound and DJs hopeless, but the crowd is seriously one of the worst i have ever seen. So many trashbags i ran out of digits to count thenm on after ten seconds!
Midro is pathetic too! He is Melbourne's equivalent of DJ Nervous (and that is one of the worst insults a DJ can get!) :P

ARQ is not the worst club in Sydney...Please Melbourne, there are worst clubs here, you obviously just haven't been to them..Arq is probably one of the cleanest clubs around Oxford Street and I could even say that it has the 'best' music around on certain nights. Each to their own I guess but just thought I would drop you all a line anyway. Have a great week!

Jason Midro is a great Hard NRG DJ, his sets can get a crowd jumping and he doesnt spin cheese, so he is NOTHING like Nervous.
If you love the music you will love BASSEY, otherwise you probably wont get it.

Well I went there last weekend!
He was spinning cheese, he spent more time talking bullshit on the mic and jumping up and down than ACTUALLY mixing. So therefore he is exactly like Nervous.
And i don't know about you but feral drunk fuckheads coming up and annoying you non stop is not my idea of a good crowd. As for trashing clubs like heat, qbh etc? Well that may be your perogative, but i think everyone already knows about these clubs and how bad they are.
You may like the club, but i *personally* found it to be painful.

Don't know if you guys hang out in Sydney much but don't let homophic boy 'Will' (who started this topic) influence your decision of where to party. Arq is an awesome club with amazing sound and lighting and two large levels, each with an atrium style balcony (think - the club in Lenny Kravitz' are you going my way clip only with four levels). It's one of the only nightclubs in Sydney with a permanent full colour phuck off laser and the tunes are pretty damn good too. Cranks all weekend, still going hard at 10am Monday morning. Voted worst club in Sydney? *sigh* The worst club in Sydney - purely based on design, furniture, fittings and equipment (or lack there of) is a dingy little converted shop on Oxford street known as 'Eden'.
21st Century Frankston by far!!
With the revolving revolting dancefloor. The girls dance with their handbags while dead shits watch.

THe venue does suck, but I think the music and crowd are pretty good. I've only ever run into friendly people there, you might say I'm one of the trashy ones so of course I'd enjoy the other trashy people there (but I don't really think I'm that bad) :)
And with respects to the music, well there's 3 levels of distinctly different styles. It's a really long running club with plenty of regulars, they do attract some big names and have managed (somehow) to stay less-known so they don't get the tryhards, wogs, posers etc coming in off the street.
Unfortunately the poor venue extends to the sound system, it's not a join you can "go off" in like HK etc. Speaking of which, people might bag it but if that's your style (cheesy NRG) there's probably no better place to have a corker of a night/day.

Guys/ Girls pissing, shagging in the 1 set of toilets with the doors open, holes in the walls and people throwing up everywhere. Gross!
Billboards, Ive only ever been there for Kandy and everytime there is always someone chundering on the couches. Its rotten, and girls smoking in the toilets and piss everywhere!!

Second time I went and was rejected either because I didn't have a collar. Or did have a collar? Can't remember lol.

the thing i disagree with u is 161 is easily the best club in melb nappa4eva just bc u cant get in doesnt mean its shit, means u dont know anyone to get in, well im goin there tonight with 2 other blokes and will get in, best club bc its quality tunes and hot poon.
worst club for me is places like spice market, long room where i have to wear my cowboy boots and everyone in there with there 5 dollar shirts and slicked back hair from brill cream lol hate those joints. Lol @ your first remark. :stroke:
I also agree with you about the 5 dollar shirts and cowboy shoes. Spice market cannot be classified as a club. It feels like a fucking retirement village for fucks sake. It's packed with so many desperate losers. Do people even enjoy themselves at these places? I know a lot of people hate muzzas, but at least they show some passion. :) Places like spice market offer no excitement whatsoever, and are devoid of any life. :boring::boring::boring:

Fucking onesix. Used to love nothing more than heading there after work Sunday morning to Breakfast Club. Very small crowd, basically all a hospitality crowd. Everyone was in a good mood and happy.
Went there again last Sunday morning; was packed out like it was 2am with complete dickheads. Left and went off to the toff.
Not Happy.
