wow. just found this on youtube. such beautiful glitchness.

"The music video for "Gantz Graf" reached a cult status in underground computer-generated imagery art circles.
The video features an abstract object (or an agglomeration of objects) perfectly synchronized to the sounds in the music as it morphs, pulsates, shakes, and finally dissolves.
The visuals contain the same amount of richness and detail as the soundtrack does, having a visual counterpart to every little sound or frequency range in the song.
Alex Rutterford (who had previously created an unofficial video for the Tri Repetae track "Eutow" as part of a Channel 4 music programme in 2001) claims the idea for the "Gantz Graf" video came during one of his LSD trips."

Always looking forward to new Autechre.
'Untilted' was a return to form after 'confield's' unattended output.
I do like Draft. It seems a bit more considered than 'Confield'.
The opener on Untilted is great. it evolves so beautifully.
Stay on the less Max/MSP more drum machines tip i say.
but then again. let them do what they want, its always worth it. :)

When's the new album come out?

Lovely!
I have to catch up on a few Surgeon releases I think. Need these 2 new Dynamic Tension plus the latest 2 off Counterbalance to round off my collection.
Those edits sound tough indeed!

The Gantz Grad DVD and CD single combo pack came out with local distribution from Creative Vibes some years ago, and was probably some of the last Warp or Ninja Tune gear CV distro'd before those labels moved on. At first i thought it was some Max/MSP related Jitter scripting to the audio but in fact its a manually derived animation. Brad Schwede of Analogik was doing similar work around that time, based in Brisbane you can see some of his work here: http://analogik.com/multimedia.asp

Personally i lost interest in Autechre when they found Max/MSP. When they first ever released "Second Bad Vilbel" it was a complete revelation to me and it contributed to an era of IDM where everyone suddenly realised you can distort sounds and use noise and not have to sound like Merzbow. For the record, good luck finding the real Second Bad Vilbel clip.... for some reason Chris Cunningham decided to retouch it one the Autechre DVD, not to mention his own Directors series discs. A shame too, the original was indicative of the era and quite cool if a litte stupid seeing a robot sitting in mud. He must have been on some serious drugs to play that "technology nature" theme so blunt

Anyway, its nice seeing you wander into this stuff Zac :) Come round the studio if youre ever up in Brisbane and we will fill your brainzzzzzzzzzz!

Anyone looking forward to Speedy J's DVD of Umfeld? Check the videos of this at http://www.apple.com/pro/profiles/pagano/ - looks very Gantz Graf but in some ways more interesting.
