Vestax CDX-05 help!

Hey guys,

I bought a pair of Vestax CDX-05 and a mixer second hand and for the first couple of days they were working perfectly. Now one of the CDX has gone crazy.

Every time I turn it on it plays the cd for about 10 seconds then the audio just stops. No levels coming through the mixer, the cd is still spinning, the track numbers are still counting but no sound. I turn it off and on again and the same thing happens at about 10 seconds into the track again.

Has anyone ever experienced this kind of thing before?

Do you know a good Vestax repair place in Sydney?

every CD you put in?

yeah, i know someone... but just take it in to DJwearhouse, they'll pass it on to the right people for a mere $10.

Yeah every cd. I switched all the cables, tried the other deck on the same mixer channel. Still got nothing.

The weird part is that it happens at around the same spot, between 8-14 seconds into the track.

I'll try and take it in there on monday.

it doesn't sound so complex to fix, but i haven't pulled apart my unit before, so it may require a new drive unit.

i've experienced the same kind of thing with my unit but ONLY when playing burnt cds... the laser's don't seem too good in them at all unforunately.

mine's never skipped a beat and it gets quite a bit of work.... they're hardly a top of the range player, but they seem to be okay.
