So, anyone into any Latino influenced stuff?

Im currently very much into the Gotan project in a big way, in addition to Manu Chao (sort of latino reggae).

Anything else I should look out for? Preferably with some sort of electronic twist....

Well, I only just got introduced to Manu Chao myself, thru the album Esperanza....but its v freekn good. Mainly Spanish, but some English too....cool reggae influenced stuff, but v different to Jamaican reggae obviously.

Ill definately be buying any other albums on sight from now on!

Not any electronic twist in this but Rodrigo and Gabriela play Flamingo style guitar like ive never heard before. Their cover of Metallica's one is top notch.

Good suggestion - saw these guys at bluesfeszt last year and they were probably the best live show for the entire week for me.

dunno about gotan project, can sound very beige in a cafe del mar way... maybe i havent heard enough. heres a few off the top of my head not really more dancefloor stuff like baile funk.
luciano does some great latin style percussive minimal sometimes.
check out senor coconut / los sampler's (atom heart). He did a great latin mix cd last year on essay recordings, and plenty of his various aliases have a lot of latin stuff in it.
strangley enough, i always find a lot of older crazy japanese stuff very influenced by bossa nova and latin pop, like the first sushi pop on bungalow. soul jazz has a few cool compilations also.
if you are in melbourne check out ennio styles or ransom, not strictly latin, but i always hear some interesting shit.
