Just got a new pair of HDJ1000s, and they're so comfy it's ridiculous... :)

But when the stereo/mono switch is in stereo mode, there's no sound out of the left channel... in mono mode both sides work fine, but in stereo the left side is dead... has anyone heard of this problem or how to fix it? The phones are brand new...

In all seriousness, im not sure , have you contacted the place that you bought them from?
Did you listen to them beforfe at all??

try unscrewing the 1/4" adapter, does it do it in an ipod or similar 3.5mm jack?

Take them back, that's a natorious issue but not the worst of it.

They get stress cracks where the headphone band meets the cans and then they snap unrepairably.

This happens to ALL HDJ1000's, it isn't a question of if, only when. They should last a year maybe. It has happened to one of my mates twice, and another once.

Nothing wrong with mine (yet).. had them for just under 12 months.

I just retired my HDJ-1000s for some beyerdynamic DT990pros the difference is amazing, both in sound quality/detail and comfort.

mine have done that... my first pair the headband fell to bits first though :meh:
