I have just discovered 2 of the -best- mother f.uckin sets that ive ever heard (with the exception of Tiesto from Energy 2000 & Johan Gielen Live at Trance Energy 2002) - they're flawlessly mixed and contain an energy that is so profound it actually drove me to get up and start moving!
(we're aliiiiiiiiiiiiiive :offchops: )
For all those who are partaking in the petty "lets bag the shit out of trance" thread in 'general' section of these forums. i highly suggest that u reconsider your statements and download the following sets:
Paul van Dyk - Live at Home London
Paul Van Dyk Live @ Mayday 2000 - omfg :offchops: :tripping:
Home is good isn't it. I thrashed that so much in the car that i can hardly listen to it now though. Is it worth getting Mayday 2000 or is it just the usual suspects from round that time?
Doesn't matter. I got it anyway.. It starts off nicely.. :)
Speaking of the start, does anyone thing BT has gone rapidly downhill? I was highly disappointed with his album Ima.
Havent heard the home one but ive had the mayday one for ages, its wicked, still gets the rounds in my diskman.

Excuse my ignorance but i am a computer benny. When you say you get a set i assume you are downloading it. Tell me how please as i feel as if i am missing something when everyone talks about these awesome sets they downloaded from years ago. Any help would be completely sick
get audiogalaxy (http://www.audiogalaxy.com) or winmx (http://www.winmx.com) and search for all the stuff you see here
or morpheus, but it sucks now.
Or go to djmixes2k (http://d2k.dedserver.org/)
or

Hey Peter where did you get the Mayday 2000 set from?
Another very good set fro 2000 - PVD live at Homelands. Absolutely kills mayday. :)
I got it from tranceaddict.com. However it was a while back but they do have always a few top new DJ sets to download. I downloaded it with a download manager, Getright bcoz am on 56K but im sure you can still find that set on Audiogalaxy.
Another killer set I must recommend that I forgot yesterday is:
- Ferry Corsten Live @ Innercity, Holland (December 1999).
Yes way back then, the time trance was peaking and boy is it a wicked set, very up-tempo and many tunes that were unknown back then and still are! Id say in a way its better than PVD's set at Mayday. Oh and I think PVD's set at home London, April 2000 is very good too, gotta love it when he drops Pewee's 'Genesis'!

To be honest the mayday set doesn't really do much for me, ill agree the tiesto set @ energy 2000 is awesome, the pvd set though, i dunno just a bit over some off them tunes.

Not sure if any of the forementioned sets can compete with Gielen TE 2002... Giving Mayday 2002 a DL now. I'll be posting my report shortly (Likely to be more than a week due to my 56K dial up... )
pvd@home and homlands kill gielen. you'll get sick of the trashy throwaway anthems in a month or two
edit: I almost forgot - the best, most classic set that PVD ever did was his set from The Gallery - Turnmills (broadcast on Radio 1 on the 4.4.99) His is the second hour after a boring bit by pete tong, and it is absolutely fantastic. Here is the tracklisting, courtesy of tracklistings.org (how good is this!)
HH - "Ice EP" (white label)
Z2 - "I Want You" (Deep Blue)
Plet Bank & Jaspa Jones - "Cream" (Deviant)
Paul Van Dyk - "For An Angel" (MFS)
Me - "GA" (white label)
Slick Mick - "Middle" (white label)
Southside Spinners - "Luvstruck" (white label)
2 Digital - "Because Of My Dreams" (white label)
DJ Tiesto & Ferry Corsten - "Eburycha" (Tsunami)
2 Digital - "Because Of My Dreams" (white label)

CW pvd's mayday 2002 gives gielen's TE2002 a run for its money :) i still listen to both
agreed nicko, his essential mix from turnmills is unparalleled. i still thrash this nowdays, 2 years after i first got it.
i can also HIGHLY recommend his essential mix from 1997- he did a studio mix before most ppl knew who he was and despite this mix being 5 years old, it sh*ts all over what the vast majority of djs r playing nowdays.
u can get the entire 2 hours through audiogalaxy.
& ahmit i'm suprised its taken u so long to get pvd @ home and @ mayday 2000..., i thought u of all ppl would have had every live set/mix available by now... :)

sashap -
I agree hey - would've expected everyone to have downloaded most of the sets here by now if they are fans, as all the sets mentioned here (by PVD) are good if not great.
Personal pick is still PVD Mayday 2000, not for the tracks as such (god i think we're all a bit over sandstorm) but coz of th energy, the timing (most ever played cd of mine from that era) and of course the memories of hearing many of those tracks at PVD in Melbourne June 2000.
However Ferry's Trance Energy 2000 is just as good for the exact same reasons. check it out!
Before reading this, I had everything but the mayday 2000 set :)
I'm getting that 97 EM right now though.

um, just for the record, saying i was suprised he didnt already have these sets wasn't meant in any kind of derisive way.., i know the guy, its just that those 2 have been around for so long is all..
anyway, dunno if u guys already knew this but there is a 40min video of paul van dyk playing live @ mayday 2000. i've got it on cd if anyone's interested.

63% of the way through PVD at Mayday 2002 (at 4562 bytes a sec might i add X( ) I love "On the run" and all those "hands in the air" types of trance. Lookin forward to see how he handles "NU NRG- Dreamland"... Mayday 2000 is queued (sp?) so i'll be gettin into that one shortly.
Nicko: Anthems on Gielen's set you are true. Trashy they are not. (Yoda is cool!)
However, seeing as we've both obviously listened to these sets (as with many other people on this thread) it appears we are all winners.
:offchops: :offchops: :offchops:
May the force of trance be with you.

Just a quick question: in Mayday 2002, about 20:00 in, is that Ferry Corsten with Punk?
I've been after the name of that track for ages.

Lord Belial: Yup!
Finally finished Mayday 2002. I'm very happy with it. especially Ayumi Hamasaki - M (Above & Beyond Typhoon Dub).
So disappointed that NU NRG- dreamland is cut off... (I've got the 59:47 version.) Starting to wish I'd paid the cash to go and see him in Melbourne earlier this year.
Tiesto - Dutch Dimension (25-05-02) omg. short and sweet.

His 97 essential mix is a real treat isn't it :D It shows you why he made it to the big time. I've seen paul every year from 99 to 02 and altho he changes his style he still has a euphoric energy and van Dyk style which makes his god. Respect Paul.
By the way in the 2000 mayday set the first track is called fibonacci sequence by BT, not sequence. It is one of my fave tracks ever, and the fibonacci sequence itself is kinda cool.
