Ok I was playing around with the powershot yesterday
Noticed that L has been shooting in M1 so I changed it large
took a couple of shots
deleted 2
took another 2 and then noticed that the 120 odd photos that L has taken from around Vietnam had vanished.
I did not delete all (before anyone asks) that has to be done through the main menu on the powershot.

Any ideas?
I'll pop the memory card in my laptop 2moro when we're back in melbourne to see if there is something weird going on.
Is there anyway of restoring the photos on the SD card?
Or do I have to accept that I have someone wiped the photos?

don't use the card again until you've recovered the images.

grab some recovery software and run it over the card, i've got a copy of RescuePRO that works pretty well, you can swing by my place once you get back and i'll run it over the card if you like

it might also just be the camera for some reason only showing the images of a specific size it's set to, whcih is weird, but possible :)

thanks :)

will do :)

I try setting it back to M1 and it was only showing the 2 photos I had taken since
so it may just need a quick runover with something
I will be in touch later this week :)

thanks Scoots :-D

something that can cause weirdness in sd cards is formatting them in your pc instead of the camera. well so my manual told me

prolly wouldntve happened if you didnt have a canon :p

shhhhhhhhhhh it can hear you! {:-(

tho back on topic, ive come across a few places that specialise in data recovery from memory cards. tho just like pc data, it can be quite costly and what you get back might be mere remnants of your original work

hopefully scootstah can help you out :)
