Check out Seven or Qbar on a Thursday or Friday and you should have an awesome night, and maybe Honkytonks on a wednesday (heard good things, although I've not been there).

IIf you're up for some early-evening house action on a Thursday, check out the Station Hotel or Candybar on Greville Street before you head out to Seven/Qbar

What kind of house? WE are going to Melbourne from Syd this weekend and have been told to go to Teryaki on Thursday night (Swanson st I think). We like clubs like icebox, sublime and greenwood, plastic - is that the kind of music you are after?

Heard that seven is good but the doormen are wankers. If they don't like the look of you they tell you it's members only. Especially guys. Viper room is good and quite friendly - sat best night there but friday is good too.

The best house in Melbourne can be found at Freakazoid, Revolver, Q-Bar, Candy Bar, Seven and Salt (sideroom).

i wouldn't really go to teryaki unless you're into minimal, acid and basically hard pumping techno. there is definatley no house at teryaki. i'd suggest seven on thursday nite if ou're into house. just thought i'd warn you so you know what you're in for if you do end up going to teryaki. it's fun though!

If you like Icebox and plastic.... go for Hard Kandy on Friday (corner of Russel st/Lt Bourke.. in the city)... best hardhouse NRG club in the country... by far... it will make the above mentioned clubs feel like a sewingclub for elderly women... a shame you lost out on Nick Sentience last week...

The clubs mentioned in the other posts are OK enough if you're into house.... and like it a tad deep... but if you like it hard as @!#$... Kandy rocks... and Capsule (reopens this Saturday) dayclub on 425 (or so) Swanston street, Carlton... followed by Bubble on Saturday...goes all day until five pm Sunday... go for a bit to eat.. then go to Viper on Chapel street, south yarra... for more NRG on Sunday night...

Rundown on the clubs mentioned in this thread

Seven... upmarked, don't go there on Thursday's... plays good house all weekend... bit cokie atmosphere.. but all around good place... the doorpeople can be a bit bitchy... only surpassed by the guys at the door at Q... just give the club a call during the day... and tell them you got down from Sydney... heard so much about seven.. jada-jada-jada... they'll put you on a guestlist.

Qbar... nothing like Q in Sydney.. Q in Melbourne is great... same sort of clientel as Seven... but the atmosphere is a bit more pornographic at Q... highly recomended on weekdays if you got nothing else to do.. During the weekends there are better choices.. don't even think of going here if you are more than two guys and have no girls with you.

Station hotel... avoid it...

Kandy Bar... great little bar which has a nice atmosphere (just got home from it now)...

Freakazoids... yes... a very mixed crowd... but it goes off!! recomended

Revolver... open all weekend 24 hours a day... recomended if you wanna wind down a bit... laid back atmosphere...

Salt... to commercial for my taste... or as I so elequently put like to put it... the DJs are good, the music are good... but there are just not enough pill people around ... can be a bit of a meat-market... often have top internationals like Carl Cox, Ferry Corsten, Tiesto etc...

Viper room... every night is a bit different ... I love Sundays... when they play HARD NRG.

Terriaki anarki saki... well this is a good option I would say.. play very minimal... but even if you don't like that... you'll probably have a good night... cause this place goes off!

Other places... Shine on commercial road... of @!#$ it ... I'm going to bed...
