I am merely curious as to why Agent Mad have bumped up their prices considerably? I am not just referring to Rotation 7, but to an upcoming party, 33&1/3 - starring LTJBukem and Mc Conrad@POW - 43bux + booking fee? Well in my opinion, it is a tad steep, after seeing them, + others@ Aurora, a 'bigger' production, for around the same price. Hmm.
Not sure but there's no harm in asking

Agent MAD = ripping the community off...
No doubt about it, after experiencing their very lame effort in setting up Respect is Burning at the Exhibition Buildings I'm never going back to another Agent MAD party. Don't get me wrong, I think the venue of the Exhibition Buildings is an amazing one, it has alot of feeling just by gazing around those amazing ceilings and structure but Agent MAD have no idea how to setup an event and bring a vibe through this very important aspect of a party.
They charge a bloody fortune and basically don't do anything (except of course pay for those international acts) - remember when we used to create parties with a vibe before a crowd even turned up??? Parties with atmosphere - you walked in and felt amazed by what trouble the organisers had gone to, this is a seperate process away from music and crowd - and of course when combined is a very special thing.
Agent MAD on the other hand couldn't give a @!#$ about this, they would rather charge big bucks and keep as much of it as they can.
Sure, Future Entertainment and Hardware have been accused of ripping people off, but atleast you know they spend your cash on decking their venues out with expensive equipment... screw Agent MAD - never again!!!
$60+ to see Carl Cox and Emerson (two kick arse DJ's agreed) - but I'd rather pay $65 and go to Rainbow Serpent (outdoors, party with a real vibe, amazing lineup, quality setup, 3 day festival) - now you tell me, who's ripping who off???
The only thing that saved NYE from being a bloody disaster was Roger Sanchez and that magical Blue Melody - why on earth did they have Dimitri bringing in the new year??? I don't mind his classic Disco House, but there is such a thing as a time and a place - for 12am 01/01/01 - it was VERY VERY WRONG!!!
Have Fun Agent MAD, keep ripping us off!
geez that's a bit harsh wasn't it.
I personally never liked Dimitri until I saw him at Respect, I'll still never buy any of his CDs etc but he was great on the night. I didn't like Carter (again) but hell it's all a matter of personal taste isn't it. (And yes Sanchez did kick ass!)
Putting on parties is business and with that comes planning, costs, and of course profit margins. Yes promoters put on parties that provide a wonderful time for all attending but at the end of the day it is someone's chosen profession to support themselves.
And frankly if you don't go there are hundreds of others that will take your place.

oh yeah...
no doubt we are all taken for a big ride at some stage in the party scene - but it's places like this that you can make others aware of the bullshit that goes on these days and hopefully open their eyes to it!
Dimitri is good - don't get me wrong, I think his style is great fun but just not right for his slot on the NYE lineup - maybe I've just been to too many parties and expected (bad move) the place to go off at midnight... I appreciate most styles of music and will always give someone a go, but the only guy worth praising on that night was Sanchez!!!
I should have known after the lame ass effort Agent MAD went to at the Flower Centre earlier in the year that they would have been into the ripping off groove - a wicked place for a party and a great lineup, did they bother to spend a little on the setup??? nahh not Agent MAD who I now call Agent LAME!
*gasp*
I am always weary of realists as opposed to idealists! I think the idea is to find a happy medium between profit and production. If not for taking pride in your event then for good PR purposes! Mind you I didn't go to Respect or Pure Flow so I won't comment, I'm just speaking generally.
See you at 2 Tribes kitsu :)
There was nothing wrong with PURE FLOW (Flower Center), it probably cost more than usual to hold an event at the Flower Center. That's why there's barely ne events held there, sadly. It's such a great venue!
gees, how about the sound in the main room for starters? that was, err, a joke to say the least. I'm not doubting the venue, as it's one of the better ones.
And I agree, Agent Mad get some great DJ's out but they put on extrmely average parties at decidedly average venues (i.e Commerical Lounge, Sirens, Salt, need I go on)
Here I was thinking that LTJ Bukem would be cheap.......Hmmm farkin Agent Mad, I shoulda known they were behind the price risingz.......whats that all about???? $43 + BSF......bullshit fee

I think you guys better get used to these prices..... AUS$43 currently equals about US$23 or UK15 pounds... if you think there's a heap of profit left after paying for the international DJ's and their entourage with their big fees in US$ or pound sterling (think about it) and then the party setup costs on top of that.... well..... if Agent MAD are making a fortune, I'd like to know how?
If we'd all just realise the worth of, and encourage our local talent a little more, we wouldn't need to be paying this much all the time.... but that seems about as likely as Hell breaking loose.
