View Full Version : Turntable Shakes - howtofixit
Hey guys,
we played at the Brighton Up Bar venue last month and i was really frsutrated by the turntables constantly shaking/skipping due to the people dancing.
i hrd putting yellowpages underneath the turntables somehow absorbed the shock? is this true and also wat are some other techniques and tips that ppl can share?
Try the search function dude... this has been covered a fair many times before:
I found this one in about 2 seconds!

To cut a long story short as its says in this thread and many others:
Squash balls and concrete blocks.
For big ass fat people jumping up and down and making the floor bounce like a your not going to get much that fixes....
play music that nobody dances to.

meh - i have these things i made , get a roll of cardboard tube, we have heaps here as we print A1, A2's etc.. cut it into 8 even width circles, or mini tubes
i made em about 2 inches in width, (note the tube must be bigger than the turtable leg)
then just get a bag of elastic bands and wrap them around the little tubes, kirss krossing over and over untill there is no daylight left to see thru
mount your turntables on top of these self made - pillows
the beauty of this is they are small, i can carry them with me in a bag, if i am say playing on a boat or something liek that or a venue i know the floor is bad, usually the ones with no booth and the dj on the floor are the worst for this
i still have em somewhere i found em the other day - handy things and cost me nothing
squash balls and concrete blocks doesnt seem as easy to take with you, altho probably work better than my above mentioned method - so as always a trade off for what suits you best
hope i helped
oops sorry guys...
thanks for the tips anyway.
