View Full Version : If all else fails...

Lets set the scene shall we?

In front of u is a stuck up crowd that has been doing nothing but standing around all night and doing everything BUT dancing to the collection of "wikid" choonz that u have been dropping throughout the duration of the night...ur frustration begins to build into anger and u begin to reconsider whether you should actually be up there, spinning in front of these high horse wankers that are obviously not interested and dont appreciate ur god like talents :P - Your hands begin to twitch as anger overcomes u - u become so enthralled by ur own resentment and bitterness u actually begin increase the pitch/speed of the track so the sooner the track is over the quicker u can f.uck off - u swirl around to catch a glimpse of ur rekkid box/bag whilst trying to pack up the reminants of your gear, only to see 'it' - just laying there; waiting...waiting for you...

This is where all of u come in, what is the ONE (1) tune YOU would stash in your box/bag to get the floor moving when all else fails?

Man, how much time do you spend imagining that you're a superstar DJ? Every one of your threads sounds like one of those choose your own adventure books

"If you want to play Southern Sun, turn to page 58.."

you pick: kylie minogue, locomotion.

people get up and dance to that, and you realise you're playing in the retro bar at the wrong place.

do you: a) follow it up with wham, wake me up, before you go go, (turn to page 55), or b) run (turn to page 67)

yello - oh yeah.

I don't doubt wouldn't get people dancing but it would certainly crack them up. And at least I think it's quality.

If I couldn't have gotten them to dance at this point, they obviously wouldn't dance to whatever else I'd have left in the record bag anyway (usually would be throwing my floor fillers no later than halfway through the set if the crowd wasn't dancing)

Hypothetically, if I were to show my displeasure, I'd throw on these to reflect their attitude:

Reloop - Fucking Society (Chromedioxid II Mix)
-- or --
Fatboy Slim - Star 69; which could in fact get them to dance without realising the context...

I have the Sound of music sound track lying around somewhere on vinyl. I'd wack that on until they all leave, then some decent punters can come in with a bit of taste, then wack on some Unix to let em know what their in for

*Where's Your F$#@* Head At
*Blue Monday
*Finally
*Anything new by Jamiroquai
*Music Sounds Better With You
*Chase The Sun
*Billie Jean
I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE having to play most of these records (with the exception of Jamiroquai and Blue Monday), but they're in the "In case of empty dance floor, play these" pile.
The problem is once you play one of them you can get stuck in the "must play hits to keep floor" zone and it becomes hard to get out of it.

If I wanted to play an old track, I'd go '1998'.

If I chose something current, then I'd probably be going for Roger Goode's 'In The Beginning' Ferry Corsten mix.

And I thought they were a really stuck up crowd...

... so wouldn't they be progressive fans? :P
