New is better because you'll have the warranty which you will need with Pioneer gear
"resoldered dry joints, tightened screws, tested ok"
since they are new i couldnt imagine there would be much diff in price...
The older Cdj1000mk2's are better in my opinion. So I would go second hand and buy one of them.
Cheaper and better.

I had a bash on a Mk3 the other day. The platter still feels like complete shite.
Pioneer should take a leaf out of Denon's book and make the platter actually feel like its made out of more than a bit of cheap moulded plastic.

So you're a fan of the Denon 5000's?

u reckon? ...last time i had a good couple of hours bash on one, loaded the sucker up with samples and started chopping/cutting wit it - and it kept up pretty damn well (something that just sux balls iv found wit the mkII)...
they're pretty entuitive to use (maybe im just used to them)...

no i mean, they work fine... they do the job that is says they do on the box... but they still feel horribly plastic.
feels fine imo... $3000 for a second hand set of CDJ1000 mk3's is what i'd be looking around... but I'd go new for the warranty support... pioneer's got shit support at the best of times...

I have to say Denon services are very good, needed some parts and they were quick to respond to my query (same day response).
On the other hand buying Pioneer thru the internet might be a risky business and if you cannot pickup nor inspect the equipment before buying, I would say you are better off buying it from JB hifi for the best prices. By agreement with its reseller, Pioneer does not allow selling new equipment on ebay...plus thereare a lot of dodgy people around trying to scam on CDJ1000/800 and DJM800...at this stage all I can say is beware of second hand on ebay and elsewhere...the popularity of Pioneer makes it the number one brand of DJ equipment you could be con with...

$3000 for second hand??
U could pick up two new ones for that price.

correct... i did mean $3000 for a pair of second hand mk3's (the retail for around $1800 each) provided they're in pretty good nick...
They would only come close to selling for that if you were silly.
Hell even if your buying one i would say you could get it for $1650

Mate of mine just bought a pair for $3000 cash in hand... at $1650 a pop I'd rather shop around a little, spend the extra $100 and get 'em brand new...
Hence both our points i am sure ;)
