They beat the price by the difference. So it's 10% of $399-368 = ~$3.10. So in the end it will cost around $365.
imo the xbox is a better buy, better design etc, but once a placestation owner....always a playstation owner it seems......sniff :)

There all good, everyone has its weaknesses and strength's
I got a Ps2 the day it came out too, and i havent regretted paying 750 for it because it has given me and immense amount of satisfaction.
I've played all three consoles, and the gamecube is killer, but the Xbox aint worth getting until they release some quality games for it.
Go with the PS2 its freaking good, just look at GT3, unbeleivable....

So do you want to code Linux or do you want to play games b-boy?? If you want to code Linux, then buy a PC.
Dollar for dollar, the Xbox is hands down the most powerful and feature packed console on the market.
4 controller ports, dolby digital 5.1 sound, rip your own CD's to the 8 gig hard drive and listen to them in games absolutely creams the PS2, and it's even cheaper than the PS2!
Halo won game of the year last year from most major games sites. and DOA3, Project Gotham and most of its sports games are all brilliant.
Why buy outdated technology? I mean, sure the PS2 has more games available, but would you buy a VHS player instead of a DVD player just because your local rental has more videos instead of DVD's to hire?
i want to play games silly
but how could u not buy tha kit
it has a 40 gig hard drive that shits on tha x-box's 8.
4 controller ports? pfft, how many games are 4 or more players? yeah thats rite hardly none and of those who tha hell would want 2 play em, multiplayer games lose its gameplay. plus u can buy a multitap for the PlayStation. and the PlayStation has 2 USB ports x-box none and you can buy an adopter for it either.
yeah its cheaper than tha PlayStation but hey did u know that Microsoft is losing shit loads of money selling at tha price they are. To make their money back for every console brought there has to be 30 games sold with 'em. Microsoft are willing to do this b/c they won't be able to get a share of tha marketplace otherwise. they spent 100 million on advertising, do u need that much money to sell something that is a great console? put it this way even after all that marketing PlayStation is still tha number one selling console.
so if u dnt believe what i have said makes tha PlayStation better then look at the figures PlayStation 2 number 1 selling console. full stop

And Britney Spears is the number one selling music artist, so what? It certainly doesn't make her any better, nor does it guarantee a quality product. Don't be a mindless drone, make your own decisions.
What is the benefit of a 40gig hard drive when none of the games support it or utilise it and you can't even rip your own music to it and listen to it in game?
And what kind of a moronic comment is this?
4 controller ports? pfft, how many games are 4 or more players? yeah thats rite hardly none and of those who tha hell would want 2 play em, multiplayer games lose its gameplay. plus u can buy a multitap for the PlayStation. and the PlayStation has 2 USB ports x-box none and you can buy an adopter for it either.
How many games are 4 players or more?
Just about every single sports game ever released for starters, and then most driving games and other great games like Hunter: The Reckoning and party games like Fusion Frenzy.
Multiplayer options only increase the replay of a game. It's fine if you don't have 3 friends, but there's no need to make up lame excuses for not needing 4 controller ports, and since when has USB ports been an issue. If you knew what you were talking about you'd know that ALL FOUR of the Xbox controller ports are just modified USB ports.
It also has an inbuilt network card for LAN connections and broadband internet connections.
that reply is so fucking lame
nuffin important to say so u take a stab @ me personally nice one brother...
doesnt even deserve a reply, if someone wants 2 buy a console and have based their purchase on what we think, then id say go and buy an x-box, igonrance is bliss.
end argument

Hey b-boy, there's a big difference between a personal attack and calling a moronic statement a moronic statement.
You just tried to tell me that hardly any games are 4 player compatible, and that multiplayer options make games lose their gameplay.
That statement just shows that you don't know much about console gaming at all.
Now, there's nothing wrong with that, but I don't see why you feel the need to pretend that you have an interest in console gaming when you clearly don't.
i dont think you should start asuming things about me mate
gaming plays a big part of my life professionally and personally

Well I'm not assuming, I'm making a decision based on everything you've said to me so far, and also based on everything you've said so far I'd put your knowledge level of console gaming at about zero with sentences like these:
x-box is so not better
have you read all the docs on it dude?
4 controller ports? pfft, how many games are 4 or more players? yeah thats rite hardly none and of those who tha hell would want 2 play em, multiplayer games lose its gameplay. plus u can buy a multitap for the PlayStation. and the PlayStation has 2 USB ports x-box none and you can buy an adopter for it either.

Basically, you've got some really, really wrong ideas about console gaming and you don't seem to have much of a technical argument - you simply come off sounding like you're regurgitating a PS2 pamphlet.
It's good to have a favourite console, but if you're going to debate its merits then you need to know about its opposition and it seems to me that you don't know a single thing about the Xbox so why don't you do some research, play some games and then come back for a decent discussion k thx cya l8r u r 2 n00b 4 dis.

haha.. i deleted it cos i thought i was just reiterating what you said and didnt want to fuel the "my console is better than your console" debate.. but ah well, fuck it now :)
b-boy, your arguments are really devoid of any logic as well as just plagued by outright errors.
it has a 40 gig hard drive that shits on tha x-box's 8.
the PS2 linux kit is $400au. that costs more than the PS2 itself. Using the argument (?) that 40gig > 8 gig is completely null and void when you consider a) there is one PS2 game (FFXI) that supports it b) you can't rip music CDs to it and c) PS2 games do not inherently utilise the harddrive. To further put this in perspective for you - i have over 40 games that each in some way use the harddrive, i have ripped over 8 full CDs of music, and have all my savegames stored on the harddrive, and the its quota still doesnt indicate the drive has been used. no its not broken :) it means 8 gig is *plenty*
if you had any idea of the purpose of a console harddrive you would understand that it allows streaming of large data content (eg, Halo's massive, continual levels), caches regularly used data and allows effects never before seen in games (such as persistent worlds). check out the Blinx preview (http://xbox.ign.com/articles/360/360175p1.html) for an example of this.
4 controller ports? pfft, how many games are 4 or more players? yeah thats rite hardly none and of those who tha hell would want 2 play em, multiplayer games lose its gameplay. plus u can buy a multitap for the PlayStation. and the PlayStation has 2 USB ports x-box none and you can buy an adopter for it either.
lets get this straight: the PS2 has USB ports as extension ports for hardware addons - addons that the Xbox already has, such as a harddrive, ethernet, and 4 controller ports. the extension ports are not something to be proud of dude. all it indicates is a "lack-of" in design.
yeah its cheaper than tha PlayStation but hey did u know that Microsoft is losing shit loads of money selling at tha price they are. To make their money back for every console brought there has to be 30 games sold with 'em. Microsoft are willing to do this b/c they won't be able to get a share of tha marketplace blah blah blah...
are we discussing the specs of each console or comparing company business strategies? hopefully you read all this and have a think, because your comments so far have just oozed ignorance. If you want to debate the quality of games between systems - fine - but don't bother comparing specs/features because its a no-brainer.
geez i hit a nerve didnt i!
i didnt mean to upset u Bill,
to tell u tha truth in my opinion i think tha ps2 is better, im sorry for voicing that, but really i dnt get that much of a hard on over machinary like u guys. say want u want i dnt give a shit whos better at the end of the day im just glad that this lame ass agrument is over

thats cool b-boy, each to their own - i respect that. i was never arguing "which is better" because that to me is just a pointless debate.
BUT - if you are going to throw specs/stats/"factual" information in an effort to prove your point, at least get your shit right. because so far you've been completely and utterly wrong.
DJ Fusion
24-Jun-02, 05:17pm
Absolutely.
I'd never wade into a console debate and trash a particular console. As far as I'm concerned they're all great in some way, but I do get defensive when people try and put down a certain console by spouting tripe and trying to pass it off as gospel.
Anyway, it's all good.:D
i hate when people say they like each console... its lies everyone has a favourite and fusion yours is so obviously xbox its not funny but hey im not afraid to admit that nintendo will always be the one for me when it comes to enjoyment of games
screw what they are saying and go buy your self a PS2 becuase it obviously has the games that you want and will enjoy. And especially now that they (domayne) are selling it so cheap

you're all completely missing the point. VolcoM's original question was:
I want a playstation 2! is it worth it?
Now you can debate Xbox vs PS2 vs Gamecube all day, but for all of them you're going to have to pony up around about $400. Now, just think what a freakin blinder of a tweekend you could have with $400 in your pocket. :D
