looks a shitload better too.. but the framerate is a bit sucky on a GF2.
i found it not too bad @ 1024x768x16... on the second island it can be a bit gay from times.. but still cool....

Does anyone know if the content of the PC version of GTA3 differs from that initial (banned) release on the PS2???
Cheers,
Mark
hey whoever had the gf2 is it a proper gf2 or an mx? Do you think it would run on my crappy geforce 2 mx400?
Apparently the Aussie PC version of GTA 3 has a thing where you can't pick up prostitutes...
I dunno if I'm doing it wrong, but I haven't been able to, but I read somewhere that if you change your PC regional settings to "United States" it works...
XD

nicko, i have a GF2 MX - the original crap one. MX400 would run it a a tad better, but maybe not by much? @640*480 with details on low it ran "ok", but worse than the PS2 framerate if thats any indication.
oh really.. dodgy. i should have not been cheap and got a decent card. what system are you running apart from that?
640*480 is not really worth considering.. it's like we're back in the 1990s or something@! :p

To anybody that's having problems with GTA3 running slowly on their PC, try the following steps:
Download 3DAnalyze. (http://gtaworld.nfscheats.com/downloads/fixes/3dAnalyze.zip)
Extract all the files in the zip somewhere. Doesn't matter where.
Run 3danalyze.exe.
In the EXE section, click the Select button, browse to your GTA3 install directory, and double-click the gta3.exe file.
Tick "Force SW TnL".
Click "Run".
This stops GTA3 from getting frequent and annoying lags in the game for no apparent reason.

i highly recommend getting yourselves a geforce 4. u can pick up a cheapo 64mb mx440 for around $200 & they run sweet as. shit all over a gf2 as they only render what u can see.
oh and dont get an mx420 :)

Err, aren't the GF4MXs just faster GF2s without all the fancy pipelining and shit that makes GF3s and proper GF4s good at what they do? I'd steer clear of them unless you don't already have a GF2MX minimum...

not sure about that, but when compared to a 64mb gf2 it's a LOT faster anyway.

I reckon a GF4 MX (440 or 460, the 420 is shit) is a worthwhile upgrade from a GF2 MX400 or below. Just dont bother if you've got a full blown GF2 or better (or a Radeon). The GF4 MX cards aren't incredibly quick but for $200 odd dollars they're pretty good value, and they run most games around now at 1024x768x32 at a good framerate, just dont expect 4xantialiasing or anisotropic filtering or any of the flash stuff. BTW has anyone seen the review of the new Radeon 9700 on Toms Hardware? That thing kicks ass, pisses all over a GeForce4 Ti4600 from a great height.... I want one!
