View Full Version : Decent Full-Time Radio Station for Brisbane
I'm sure that I'm not the only person here, who, in February, read on ITM news with great excitement that RhythmFM would be broadcasting Fulltime in Brissy in the next couple of months.
That was over 3 months ago, and since then I have heard absoultely bugger all on the topic, except on AlchemyTV once in Feb.
Could someone please fill us in on if/when/ever RhythmFM or any Decent dance station will ever flood the ariwaves of Brisbane Fulltime. Wild/Pulse FM are absolutely atrocious.
well I asked matt techboy@itm.com.au about this the other night and got the lowdown. Rhythm FM has bought up a lot of small licences throughout Brisbane and will link them together and begin broadcasting here soon (within a few months hopefully). This is completely seperate from the wild/pulse/switch fm battles for a full time licence. The initial plan is to broadcast sydney content direct for the first 6 months or so, and then add local content. Having heard Rhythm FM over the live net broadcast, I can honestly say I can't wait! I just hope it doesn't all go to poo when the Brissie programming take over!

for great dance tunes have you tried listening to triple zed? sure it's not dance 24/7 but there are some great dance music slots on triple zed. crucial cutz on saturday nights for your progressive/tribal fix, jamsandwiches on friday for a techno fix,.....checkit out

Pucka, personally I can say I know those involved in Brisbane Rhythm quite well, and progress is definitely being made. Tentative switch on date is towards the end of this month but it's a mammoth task for the team running about setting it up.
As for a low profile, Rhythm actually prefer initially to have a low profile, letting the cooler undergroudn heads get into it - Rhythm are definitely not into the bashing-you-about-the-head hype of some other Brisbane dance stations.
The frequency will be 87.8, and don't worry about Brisbane programming, I'm assured some of Brisbane's finest have been lined up and that a local 'Scenester' is involved in hand-picking DJs and artists as far as Brisbane content goes.
Credible dance music radio in Brisbane... it's not that far away.
