You've already bought it for cheaper, but i saw cannon online in sydney have them on ebay for $2000 with a free pair of pioneer cans - though everone seems to be using HD-25's these days

dj warehouse would have given you the best deal.
got shure m447h's for 90 bucks each and pioneer hdj1000's for 230.
shures are 160 normally and hdj1000's are 300.
pretty good deal.
and ive used the hd25's loads.
nothing compared to the hdj1000's.
hdj's are louder, better quality, have a wider frequency range and i have better noise isolation.
whether the specs say so or not (im pretty sure they do) compare them yourselves. they are much better

i hear that songs ripped from soulseek sound better through hdj1000s too, if that makes any difference.

everyone is entitled to their own opinion but come on..
i own the hdj 1000's and imo they are not that great at all.
if i had my time again i would of saved up the extra $ and got hd25's

I had two pairs of HDJ1000s.. both broke in the same place, when i bought my hd25's i listened to both side by side.... HD25's shat on 'em tenfold......
did they break just above the ear cup? mine has broken there twice now...
if it wasnt for super glue i would of bought myself some senhies
yep... ended up giving mine to a mate when they did... there's a little crack but he wasn't too worried...

^^^^ LOL dont even bother mate. Seriously. Stats mean BOLLOCKS when the case design housing said "better" cans is a POS.
Have used both and i still prefer the HD25 - the hdj1000 are just such a bad design that at the end of the day i am surprised they still make them! DJ cans should be solid - not snap at the drop of a hat!
Summary: HDJ's definitely DO NOT pwn ;) Too many sob stories on this forum regarding them. And i will wager you are definitely in the minority with your "HDJ pwns HD25" point of view!
oh god did i just perpetuate another stupid can debate? oh dear...

you need more power to drive a 50mm driver, so you're comparing apples to monkeys with the power stats.
and i don't know about you, but I'm fairly certain i can't hear 5hz anyway, and i doubt a simple earphone could even reproduce it.
but, yes you're more than welcome to have your opinion, personally i like technics 1210's more than the HD25's.

Another HDJ supporter here, I can't stand the small size of the HD25's.
Easily best headphones I've ever owned, and I think Seinheisers are overpriced and overrated... thats right, I said it :P

oh and.
they shouldnt snap if you take care of them.

All respect to some stats copied and pasted from a website but really, Everyone I have ever known with the HDJ's has had problems (and all of them now use HD25's) - and carting cans to and from venues will undoubtabley cause a couple of knocks here and there... At the end of the day I guess i prefer a set that can squish neatly in my bag and wont snap cause of a stupid and not entirely well thought out hinge mechanism!
Although as far as durability goes - you cant go past the technics IMO....
I remember when the HDJ's first came out - even then the technics where ahead of the pack. Now there are too many better options for me to even consider the pioneers... ;)
besides - if we were to go off the figures wouldnt the acoustic impedance carry more weight than some of the other less significant and perhaps barely noticeable differences? hmmm? :)

yes but having a max power holding of 3500mW allows it to take more power not needing it to be drained from the amplifier it is plugged into?
correct me if im mistaken, but this is the impression i get.
oh and.

Correct... They shouldn't, but they do...
What's the point of having a pair of DJ cans if you've gotta wrap them up in bubble wrap everytime you play a gig??
Go the HD's. Ive used a few cans now and these are by the best I have ever used. So clear for monitoring. The bass doesnt over power the frequencies (like in technics which i used to own) so you can get an overall great picture. plus well they're user replaceable...Got a problem, order a new part, fixed.
Phil 'Pioneer' K wont even use the HDJ1000's these days and thats saying something,
Anyway
each to their own
F
p.s. Yeah dig the 800 tho The Xone 92 has won it for me
The bass doesnt over power the frequencies
My favourite bit as well :)
I also love the way the cans sit on my ear without covering, and stick to my head despite the build... and love the weight of 'em...
Xone:92 fanboi but after seeing Gee put the effects on the DJM800 to good use it could be my next mixer :P:P

Ayup, another satisfied HD25-from-chemical-records-owner here too. Mine were even cheaper, they had a special on when I got them, they were 100 quid flat. :thumb:
HDJ's are loud and sexy. I love em. Yes they are flimsy and break in the same place every 12 months or so but if you poke around you can find some good fixes for it. (Superglue and a little bit of metal or venetian blind) etc...

my 25's were squishing my head too much so i bought some SP's for the studio,
Ended up looping the stupid cables back over the top and putting some electrical tape on it so the cord runs down one side like the 25's. I havent used anything else out since, i sold the 25's to a mate.
if you're strapped for cash just do that, i prefer the lighter setup and less vicelike SP's i know dopamine and a few other internationals use em as well.

Is that a fact?
I thought I used HD-25's
Gonna try order one over the next couple of weeks...
$1990's the best price I can find... can anyone else beat that??
yeah I agree... they can keep the extra 500 quid for the time being though :)
and it's going in my bedroom (and studio in my new place) not a nightclub :P

At the end of the day, your headphones are only used to match beats, that's it, so it doesn't matter if they are crisp and clear, your not enjoying your music through them, as long as you can hear the beat, that it fine. You could be using iPod headphones, just as long as you can hear the beat.
For the record I have Sennies and they are good, but they are really tight, definately not confortable for long listening sessions. They are light as though and have great isolation, which is something I think you should look at when buying cans so you can distinguish the cued track from the monitors/floors.
I know dopamine and a few other internationals use em as well.
I know a shit load of internationals are using the lolliepop headphone as well, but doesn't mean they're good! Couldn't think of anything more uncomfortable! They look so awkward. When they aren't in the mix, they have to look around for somewhere to throw it, and when they want to mix quickly, they have to dig through everything to find it! Plus can you imagine you kneck and shoulder at the end of the night {:-(
xone 92=tool
djm800=toy
Echo! Fuck Pioneer, who needs all the knobs that sound like shit anyway. Tried the filter on the DJM700 yesterday, sound so fucking shit it's not even worth it. Plus the harmonic button is a fucking joke!
Got mine for 1950 from jb a while ago - i heard its more like 1750 now.

might have to go in and do some bargaining tomorrow... thanks ladies :thumb:
Can you order things online from JB or do you have to go into a store?
No stores up here in Cairns 8(
I tried the JB Commercial site, but have to be a business to get any orders from there.
Perhaps a bargaining converstaion over the phone might do the trick??

hmmm i'm keen to maybe pick one up this week too. if lone dodgy resellers can pass them up on ebay for $1600 then hopefully JB can do a similar deal. anyone up for bargaining them on a good price for 2 units? hehe
