Im new to all this and wanting to upgrade my setup with some CDJ's.

But can you tell me the main benefits of paying double for CDJ 1000's over say CDJ 100's

cdj 100 = brand new $500 from JB
Cdj 1000mk3= brand new $1800
cdj 1000 mk1 (5yrs old) = 2nd hand $1000 from ebay

cdj 100 all you can do it, 3 effect, and pitch only up to +/-10%
cdj 200 is same as 100, you only mp3 features

cdj 1000 (not much different between mk1 & mk3) , you can do looping, scratch, play backward, speed adjust +/-100% in mk3

IMO get cdj1000mk1, pioneer stuff are great!. built to last!

or 1xcdj1000mk1 and 1xcdj100.. thats my set up:rock:

You can loop on CDJ 200's. IMO that's why you'd buy one over a 100.

Comes down to how much cash you have to spend.

If you bought a pair of 1000s you certainly wouldn't regret it.

if you ever plan on playing out dont get anything below a cdj800 they are pretty much in the same format as 1000's but $500 cheaper dont bother with 100's or 200's you will end up upgrading to 800's or 1000's pretty soon anyway
they are a hefty investment (im still paying mine of on credit cards) but well worth it as you won't really ever have to upgrade and will have the skills to use industry standard equipment

try going to jb or dj wharehouse and barganing i got a pretty good discount doing this

Are you serious you cant loop on 100's!! i thought u could. get 200's or even check out stanton c14's . There platter features and effects are well above the 200's

the main diference for me is the looping function, the hot cues & the SD card to store loops, hot cues & track markers that can be used to trigger samples & tracks. the looping function on the cdj800 & the 200 is only adjustable from one end but the 1000 will allow you to adjust both 'in & out' points. you can also adjust the 'torque' of the jog wheel on the cdj1000 mk3's.. personally I'd save your money & wait until you can afford 1000's.

Long time coming but thanks for the replies. Still not sure that i can afford upwards of 4 grand for a decent setup but ill just have to wait and see.

Check out Serato and Traktor Scratch (google em). Hooks up to your 1200's and plays mp3s from your comp.

They need to be in damn good condition too...most of the time I've heard anyones set fucking out when using Serato or alike is because the needles were worn...not tracking well = loss of time coding = skipping/cutting out...

you can select +/-6% on the 200's. the platter however is an absolute piece of ass.

Yeah, at the end of the day you'll never regret buying quality gear...and if in the future you want to sell up, the industry standard gears hold their value the best.

If you plan on using cds more than vinyl and want to do more than just purley playing tracks then go for the 1000's.

I still use vinyl far more than cds in sets and when i use cds i pretty much only use it for playing the track without the looping and massive pitch adjustments etc and for that reason i went for a pair of 100's instead of 1000's as i dont have a need for all the extra features.

I found that while the platter and pitch are drastically different, all the cdjs are easy enough for you to figure out the basics on the fly at a gig and more quiet gigs are a good chance to experiment with the added features if you choose to.

But if you really wanna make the most of cds and plan to incorporate some of the extra things that cds will allow you to do, then 1000's are definately going to be your best buy.


If i was gonna upgrade my cdjs though i'd go for a set of Denon DNS-3500's. But thats just a personal preference.

they are almost exactly the same as the 1000's

the cdj 800 mk11 is almost even better then the 1000's the mk1 and mk11 anyway
