Wow!

No, I didn't know about this!! Hate dat!

It's quite possible that Mike is going Perth only - the scene has a growing deep house movement and increasingly DJs are just visiting that city and not coming to the East Coast. Needless to say I am onto this!

I saw the line-up for the Flash party but I don't think there is is any Detroit acts, it's more a concetual thing maybe. Maybe Claude Young has cancelled. Looks like a great party though.

I think Drexciyan has amazing taste - just like me. :)

Cheers

Cyclone: i think you may be correct he probably is only visiting Perth, they do have a great tight little deep house/electro scene.

Let's hope there is something special there when i go visit in June.

oh and mr poobah thanks for that lovely link!

Mike Grant has been touted to Melbourne promoters but I am not sure if he will come over as it's been a little last minute and those interested promoters may not be able to fit it in.

The tour is being handled by a Perth promoter.

For those not in the know, I will try and post some info on Mr Grant soon.

Needless to say he is one of those dope Detroit guys making house - think Theo Parrish, Moodymann, etc.

Cheers

I can't believe they are billing Johannes, Gaetano and Speedy J as a "Detroit Themed" event.
None of them even have a tie to Detroit, with only Speedy J having a tenuous link through his work as Electric Deluxe on Plus 8.
Can't these Promoters actually conceive an original concept?
Anyway, for those wanting a real piece of Detroit - it looks like the Suburban Knight tour is actually happening. I got sent a e-flyer but when I emailed the "promoter" asking for further details he couldn't tell me a thing. Hmmm...

Previously all the Flash parties (and the one Fix party) were actually Detroit themed.

They've had Carl Craig, DJ Rolando, Claude Young, Juan Atkins and Derrick May.

Usually the same promoter used the Blue Apple Phunk name for non-Detroit parties.

Considering the initial flyers went out witout any details, I'm guessing that the intention was to have that Detroit aspect, but fell through.

Yes I think Claude Young has cancelled, so that explains it.

Suburban Knight is on at the Paladin in April but it's someone I don't know doing it.

Re: Suburban Knight. We got an e-mail press release just after deadline last week. You should see it in the street press this week. There's a lot of mystery surrounding it, but I just have a date and venue at this stage and an idea of the promoter. It's not unsual for details for a club gig to be sketchy at this stage as it's two months off.

Cyclone: thanks for the update, suburban knight is one of the most underated names in that whole Detroit collective - but i hope its not at Paladin, id rather a warehouse so much more.

Too much posse.
Jeff Mills is playing three dates in Melbourne in March.
And Dave Clarke is coming here in June - and let me say that personally I think Dave Clarke is the BOMB! Check out technology on this link to see the phenomenal selection he drops every week.

Oh yeah, Suburban Knight is amazing and I'm real excited that he is coming! He should have played here late last year (I won't even go into the politics here) but the news that he is back in this country is fantastic. He's very underrated but a totally incredible DJ and producer - with a hand in classic Red Planet material and releases like The Art Of Stalking. Everybody into amazing Detroit music and UR had better come and represent!

Detroit music! What would be great is Jeff Mills and Suburban Knight in the same event.

This year would be great if:
- G Force/Stanny Fransen (if anyone brings him out it'll be Hardware due to his ties to Corrado's Zenit label)
- the guy behind the User 12's (Richard Harvey???)
- Technasia (extremely original techno producers)
- Ben Sims (we've all seen him, but damn, his DJ skills are incredible)
- Takuyi Ishino (sp?)

came out and said hello to Melbourne. Plus a party with Marcus Intalex that was promoted properly!
