To make the stands you have to go to the plumbing departmnet of your local hardware store and purchase items like these.
http://plumbing.hardwarestore.com/52...ized-pipe.aspx
(length of your choice to fit your application, these are threaded on both ends)
http://plumbing.hardwarestore.com/52...n-flanges.aspx
(these are used to attach to the surface of your table and also to the platform of your cdj/monitor stand. they are threaded to accept the section of pipe.)
If you are making the stands for your CDJ's then use this fitting:
http://plumbing.hardwarestore.com/52...w--636761.aspx
(assemble as follows: floor flange attached to table, section of pipe, 45 degree fitting, floor flange for cdj platform, platform.)
*note: make sure you cd player will function at a 45 degree angle.
To attach the stand you will need to get some wood screws to attach to your table and to the platform. The length of the screw will vary depending on the thickness of your table. If you need help just ask the guy/gal at the hardware store.
To finish the stand you will need to purchase medium grit sand paper, a couple cans of spray primer, some type of solvent (acetone, lacquer thinner) and spray paint in the color of your choice.
Lets Start:
1st) assemble your fittings together. Do not attach the wood platform. Sand the assembled piece with your sand paper. Wipe the fittings down with the solvent. Let it sit and dry. This shouldnt take long.
2nd) Apply 2-3 light coats of primer to the assembled fittings. Sand between each coat if necessary. Let dry.
3rd) Apply 2-3 light coats of spray paint until fully covered. If there are particles in the paint or spots from too much paint, let it dry and sand it out.
4th) cut your platform to the size that will fit your monitor/cdj. Follow the steps above for priming and painting the platform. If you will be using the platform at a 45 degree angle then cut a piece of material about 3/4" thick for the front of the platform. This is so your equipment doesnt fall off.
After all of the pieces are dry you can attach the platform to the fittings using the screws you picked out. Then attach the fully assembled piece to your table.
If you want to get fancy, you can drill a hole in the platform and in your table. Mount the stand over the hole on your table and you can run your wires down through the pipe.
Also, if you want extra security that your CDJ wont fall off the 45 degree platform then buy some industrial strength velcro. Works like a charm.
A nice thing about these stands is that you can make minor horizontal adjustments just by turning the section of pipe either right or left. It will turn in the floor flange.
