Hey guys, heading over to ibiza on sept 18-22. Id do some more research but im really screwed for time since im working both jobs. Just wondering if some of you guys could help me out in writing a quick 4 day itinery? Nothing too special, just enough to point me in the right direction. Was planning on prob having a big one on the tues (18), and goto the cream closing party on the 20th.

So yeah, any help would be good. I obviously wanna go out and get flogged but id also like to take in the scenary/culture of the place. Heard they have some wicked sunsets etc, vantage points? Beaches? etc etc

Btw im staying in playa d'en bossa at the garbi apartments, all booked and ready to go! Thanks guys.

firstly, you will need to hire a car.......without a car you really won't experience the best things the island has to offer and given that you only have 4 days, it will maximise the amount of things you can see.

Beaches;

Benirras........beautiful beach on the north east of the island.....approx 20 minutes from PDB. On wednesdays' they have the drummers and musicians there. it's well known for attracting the alternative types. great sunsets there

San Miquel........north. another beautiful spot well away from the bigger cities. overlooking san miquel is the lookout of Na Xamena..........an awesome high spot with breathtaking views over the north of the island overlooking san miquel and benirras. also the caves of can marca are awesome with spectacular views

Es Figueral and Agua Blanca.......north. another awseome part of the world. Es figeural and agua blanca are two of the few beaches that have waves in Ibiza. the rip can get quite nasty at es figueral, but both are beautiful spots.

Portinax. The largest of the towns to the north and another beautiful spot. the beach at portinax gets quite busy but well worth the trip to the northern point.

Cala Vadella........beautiful beach town with a spectacular bay with plenty of yachts and boats moored there. very picturesque and the road in from san an has some spectacular views

cala d'hort........spectacular rock and cliff formations above the beach. one of the very popular beaches and the orange, yellow and red rock and cliff formations give it a spectacular setting. another with great views and a great coastal drive.

cala jondal.........another very different beach with a great restaurant too to the south of the island.

s'illot des renclis..........probably my favourite spot. not the easiest to find but well worth it. it is close to portinax. a tiny little beach set in a beautiful bay with spectacular scenery......picture postcard stuff. the restaurant there has the freshest sole you will eat anywhere and the coastal drive between s' illot des renclis and san miquel is just sensational

salinas.......very popular beach close to PDB.........every now and then carl cox and roger sanchez etc pop in. coxy was there chilling out when i was there in 2004. great beach and plenty to do on the beach.

Towns;

santa eulalia is a nice town. the hippy markets at es cana are quite cool

portinax as discussed earlier is a very nice part of the world

if you have time, catch a ferry to the island of formenterra......it's about a 45 minute ferry ride and a beautiful island

clubbing;

make sure you catch carl cox and coccoon.......two best nights on the island IMO.

bars;

heaps of cool bars in the old town and the marina of ibiza town.

the sunset strip is fun and the sunsets are cool

KM5 is a really cool bar off the beaten track.

lot's to see, but it is the coastal drives and natural beauty of the beaches and bays that leaves a lasting impression. just jump in the car and explore........there are heaps of little beaches and bays and lookouts that are not on the maps that are spectacular.

How long does it take to drive around?

buffed

it's about 45 minutes from north to south and 35 minutes east to west. nothing is more than a 30 minute drive from playa d en bossa.

motoluis are based in ibiza and you only have to be 21 with at least 3 years driving experience. they are not the cheapest, but the larger hire companies only rent to over 25's as far as i know. here is their site. without a car, you really won't be able to get to many of the beaches and spots i mentioned.........buses only go to a select few beaches and taxi's will cost a fortune.

They are actually pretty good prices and cars, 120euro for 3 days for a Peugeot

40 euro's per day is a good price. i went through motoluis the first time i went and i from memory i paid over 50, so it seems they have gotten cheaper which is good.

you'd be lucky to even find a taxi. Car is the most ideal thing or even a scooter. You can get away with hiring one without the experience of a car driver

or even a scooter.

scooter? --> maybe handy if u zipping around san an or playa den bossa, but if actually wanna go to different spots around this island a scooter is suicide.

I would not get a scooter if u paid me. The amount of poeple on scooters that ate shit over the course of the summer last year while i was there was insane. Dead set saw truck run right over the top of a scooter and kill the rider one morning. The roads are fukn hectic to drive on in a car so a scooter is not a good option at all.

Things are even crazier this year with all the motorway open meaning everyone in cars goes super fast at all times

each to their own but he is coming at a time when its wont be peak season. True is you wont to go further up north a car is better. It would atke you all day on a scooter

What type of license do you need to drive in Spain?

choppy69
06-Aug-07, 03:38pm
International license.. or your usual Aussie one. We used this to get a motorbike.

I was abit wobbly to begin with as i had not mounted a bike or went for a ride over 4 years.

The cops do pull people over though and dont get in the car with strangers there plenty of people offering lifts etc.

Dont drive or ride of your face..

i must admit i was so pissed going through the mountain sides in Mykonos now that i think about it im not sure how my girlfriend and I got out alive :P
