View Full Version : How do I stick photogrpahs to canvas?
Long story short - I bought a big canvas to stick photos on because Im renting and cant put them on the wall. I used permanent double sided tape.
It looks fantastic, but after only a few hours, some of the photos started to fall off. I think the central heating may have heat up the adhesive.
They were dirt cheap to print, so it wouldnt matter if I used something that might eventually harm the photos, but ideally I would like to use something that sticks them firmaly, but then I can change them around from time to time.
Any suggestions?
Thanks guys.
a friend & i did up something similar for the alive guys last year
we used woodglue (photos were printed on a combination of photo paper & copier paper)
not really sure how its held up - its been over a year - but i know it survived the night ^__^

I did the same thing last year! Actually, reminds me I need to update it with 2007 photos.
I just used blu-tac, so then it's easy to update with new photos whenever you want. They'd only come off if there was wind going directly onto the canvas.

have you treated the canvas with anything?
untreated canvas is porous, so not great for sticking things onto.
a few coats, even just with acrylic paint, would make a difference.
also, go to a good art store and ask the staff for help.
an adhesive spray would probably do what you want - don't go for the cheapest one.
as a last resort, a piece of board - maybe even just thick foamcore, might be more appropriate for sticking photos than a canvas.
ooh, or you could attach the photos with pins.

you could always try laquering the photos onto the canvas... might get a nice washed paintily look
