View Full Version : How to get my set's onto CD???
Can anyone explain how I can get my sets onto cd?
I have a few recorded on mini disc and would like to get them onto CD so I can give them to friends. But I can't workout how to get the music into a format that is ok for cd's.
I have worked out how to get them into a .ram format via real producer but am at a loss as to how to get it that next step.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Heya.
Well I use my PC a lot to put my sets down on CD. I have my mixer running into the soundcard's line input. I use "SoundForge" to record the actual set straight to hard drive. Then after trimming the set and normalizing the levels, I save it as a WAV file. Then if you have a CD burner, you can simply dump the WAV file straight to your blank CD. Pretty easy really... It sounds to me like you need to get some software to record your stuff firstly, so you can store it on the h/drive.
Good luck!!
Software is exactly what I need. Soundforge is over US$400. And is PC only - I have a MAC
Any ideas?

Do u have itunes if so plug your mini disk into your mic port and away You go :-)
Hope this helps, Bastian
Sound forge and other great electronic music software (rebirth, etc..) can be found free on the web, yes it is illegal, and breaks every software piracy law on earth, but it is there if you know where to look. (hint:warez). but do so at own risk.
You can now by cd creators that will work in real time from an analogue source ie recording a cd the way you do a mini disk, most are consumer standard, not really professional systems , but still not too bad, but they cost around $800 at last check. u say you have a mac? well macs are best for sound recording as they dont crash half as much as windows systems, most recording studios use macs, you should be able to find a fair bit of cool recording/mixing software out there for them have a look at cu-base its a pro package with varied versions and price ranges. check out some recording magazines if you need more info.
hope this was some help,
cheers iain :)
