Engadget spamming once again, but what models do you think could be upgraded/replaced with this new sensor for Sony? The 40D is already locked in, but perhaps some of the Nikons might get onto this. I'm not sure what the agreements are in regards to sensors and manufacturers, but I know that Pentax use Sony sensors in the K10D.
:stroke:
Hmmmm, that sounds rather nice (especially since I currently shoot Pentax, but am looking ar jumping shi[. The problem is that a) Pentax currently don't have in their digital line anything higher than 3fps, so it may require new development to get something durable that can deal with this, and b) this will most likely come out on the next Sony pro line rather than the Pentax line for a while. This said, anything that drops the price of cameras through competition (as long as it doesn't reduce quality) works for me! Vive la revolution!

Agreed. This looks like the perfect sensor for Sony to introduce into their advanced DSLR, in the same bracket as the 40D, a step up from the alpha. I don't think it'd be enough for a top end model, and perhaps we might see it in a revision of the K10D (K11D perhaps?) a fair way down the track, but this will bring the upcoming Sony range (it's coming, we all know it) with the big hitters Canon and Nikon.
Good news for owners of Konica-Minolta glass, and will give people something to think about, especially newcomers to the action/sports photography markets that don't already have investment in the other systems.
Very true, and 10fps is freaking fast (I am yet to experience anything like the starting rattle of a 1DIII, that sucker will often start its bursts at 15fps, it sounds like a machine gun :D). The big problem will be getting the AF up to scratch to go with it I think, the AF on my friend's alpha is almost as crap as the one on my *istDL, so that will need to be improved as well.
