Hey guys, been learning for around 6 months now, and purchased some gear about a month ago.
Now I've got my own gear I'm getting the hang of beatmatching, EQing, etc.
I've got 2 CDJ1000's at moment. But a very average old mixer, and some nasty cheap headphones.
Question I'm asking is what do you think my next purchase should be between headphones and mixer.
For the mixer I'm looking at the Numark DXM06 and headphones I thought I'd opt for Sennheiser HD25's.
Thanks for your help.

If you plan on spending that much on headphones why not spend a little more on a decent mixer?
new equipment option 1 will instantly make you a better dj.
new equipment option 2 wont.
but im not going to tell you which is which.
seriously does it matter what anyone else thinks? just save your money and buy them both at the same time if you cant decide. or better yet, think about it for 2 seconds and make a decision on your own, its really not that big a deal.

hey champ,
to actually answer your question, unless your mixer has shat itself id go the headphones :thumb:
My mixing took a massive turn for the better when i finally sucked it up and shelled out the dosh and upgraded from my $60 headies to the HD25's.
chances are if youve only been going for six months )and have only had your own gear for 1 month) your probably not gonna have utilised your current mixer to its full potential. if your like the majority of other people who take up this hobby you also wont really have the "need" for anything other than a mixer with 3 eq's and a bunch of volume controls, maybe even some kill switches.
Make sure your bombproof on dropping your tracks into eachother before you start worrying about all the fancy stuff. You (and everybody else that hears you play) will thank yourself for it not too far down the track :) Im not in the digital dj world but im pretty sure the 1000's have a few effects on em to keep you busy anyways...
If and when you decide to get a new mixer, go out and have a play on the on the ones you think youd like in-store. Also, depending on what genre of music you follow, youll probably wanna do a search to see what mixers are popular, and why they are popular (ie effects and filters, sound and build quality, cut-in switches, etc etc)

Thanks for your help. I was leaning towards the headphones. Esp noticing the difference after using friends HD's. The points you made sealed the deal.
