View Full Version : ITM Meet Up....
Who's up for an ITM Melbourne meet up?? We've been through the 'Who are we' introductions and stuff... So maybe a meet up is in order somewhere like the lounge where we can eat and drink beer :) Party meet ups are sometimes a pain due to the different reasons, agends etc. that people go to parties. There's always some awesome DJ that your missing when some twat decides to have a meet up there *giggelz* Unless of course we're throwing our own party *hint, hint, nudge, nudge* ... I think it would be nice... Anyone??? Save me from what could possibly be a pinnicle of embarrassment....?!?
*mental note* yet again.. its now 1:40am on a Saturday night and I'm still here, still not out, still not tackling that pile of homework... *sigh*
*PiNKe chants ITM Yeah ITM Yeah ITM Yeah*

and of course I'm in :)
Heya!!
I'll be in that! Of course only if I'm not working, but yeah it sounds cool. The Lounge is probably as good a suggestion as any too. If we were to throw an ITM party, an outdoor venue would be cool, for perhaps a BBQ or something, kinda like the BlueLight one a few months ago.
So who is going to be the brave one to suggest some dates & times?? Hehehe.
yeah cool meet up would be good :) i missed the last one for some reason???
i'm probably playing the early set @ viper this week, maybe there? or is that a little too soon or expensive or sumfing?
Well us ITMers seem to love the Lounge *winx @ Soph* But I seriously don't mind where it's at... for me personally, Viper is a no go at this period because Uni awaits me too early on a Monday morning for contemplation. But who said there could only be one meeting?? A barbeque would be nice.. if the weather clears up a bit... Park city, food, beer and music?!?
Well When's everyone FREE? when is a good time to have it.. during the week? weekend? day? night? Everyone have a yarn and we'll work something out from there...

I'd prefer weekend (either Saturday or Sunday) as weekday is pretty much out as I'm generally stuffed after working all day!
Afternoon suits me fine, hopefully suits others too. :)
Brett.
Count me in it all sounds good if we are going to have a bbq or something make it on a weekend it will be better.

i thought the timing and place of the last meeting worked really well,..early evening on a Saturday is cool, or like to go out on Sundays for drinks around 7pm is kinda cruisey.
cheers
PC
Yeah Saturday night maybe even before a party around 7ish? Or Sunday around 7ish (earlish) works good too.... What about dates? ? Hehe don't you love the way I make the suggestion and then make you guys do all the work *grinz* :) Hey Polecat- what are you doing at Melbourne Uni?? BTW I really liked your collaborative review with Em K on Two Tribez- worked really well, and was well informed... nice work!

no no no please don't do it Plump DJs weekend - I'm going to Sydney that weekend so I'll be plumping up there with the Sydney ITM crew.
*down on knees pleading*
can we do it the Sunday after please??
I think you should give everyone about a month in advance notice and send out many many email reminders at least so that we can all organize our hectic social lives around it ....I dont know when...and we have to consider everyones differing tastes in music...which is going to be hard.
We'll work it out, I think a month's time is sounding good, maybe just before, during or just after the easter break? I think somewhere generic to all people's tastes in order. Suggesting a loungey type place, cafe, or small bar for this reason. Has anyone been to the Blue Bar on Chapel St. just up from Hungry Jacks? It's a really small place... they have nibbly food, nice beer, and a really chilled dj, awesome little place. Or we could hold out for some warmer weather for a barbeque/picnic and we can lug a stereo down there and everyone can just listen to what they want.

Hey Guys...i'm from the Sydney forum, just thought i'd pop in (hope you don't mind)...
We had an ITM meetup on Wednesday night. It was such a good night...i really suggest you go ahead with it...
Here is the report (by the one and only djned):
SYDNEY: inthemix.com.au’s first ever official Sydney forum meetup is being hailed as a wild success after a pack of nerds caused a ruckus at an inner-city bar last night.
The night threatened to never start at all when the inimitable BreaKinIt01 arrived to find the designated meeting spot occupied by a couple of non-ITM miscreants.
BreaKinIt quickly found TwoUp, who had been drinking all day and was curled up in a quiet corner alternately eating pretzels and mumbling about the way covert_a had left him scarred for life.
The two set up temporary shop at the tables closest the entrance, where they where joined by the bemulleted Caz_B, who was so committed to the meetup that she was packing a very painful couple of broken ribs.
Young Caz had been recommended traction by a crack team of specialists but told them nothing was going to stop her from making it to the globe.
As BreaKinIt got friendly with the bar staff (no surprises there), lil_jazz arrived to great fanfare, and smurph arrived with a team of groupies.
Inspired tactics from the quick-thinking BreaKinIt saw a rapid progression up the cushioned seat pecking order and it wasn’t long before “Let our powers combine” – the ITMers were pulling tables and chairs from every nook and cranny to whack up one heck of a meeting point.
Bob Dobilina was a welcome addition to the evening, if only so lil_jazz could squeeze a bottle of red out of him, but the hits kept coming as suparockin, Tyson, candlestickmakr, buda, bekk, and tripi taka all came to the party.
Rollar made sure people knew he’d arrived at Globe level one by jumping around, kissing, squealing, and generally behaving like a schoolboy making bigtime deals at a tazo swap meet.
Will’s entrance was quieter but no less monumental. Critics have labelled him something of a ‘dark horse’ in forum circles, watch out for this guy to get a bigger billing at future meetups.
But the person the posse was most hanging to see was GfunK. The young lad has reinvented him just like MC Hammer by dropping the first part of his name, but still, the talk was dominated by speculation as to where ‘Rod’ was.
tripi taka was on the case. The group had fingered a couple of non-ITM Globe patrons as being likely suspects and tripi wasted no time in getting to know the most attractive one.
Seizing the opportunity as a few miscreants went in search of some elusive Royal Copenhagen, and smurph went ‘somewhere’ with his pack of lusting groupies, tripi did in fact find GfunK watching her from a corner of the Globe, but she found so much more.
“He’s an artist, and I’m an artist,” tripi marvelled. “He’s from Iraq and he studies at Sydney Uni and teaches as well.”
Sounds like a match made in heaven. “Pretty much, he likes the younguns, I like the oldies – he guessed that I was 19.”
tripi taka said, “I’m a little bit nervous – RodGFunk bought me a drink !” She giggled like a little schoolgirl before serenely confiding, “tripi taka’s shy, by the way.”
But the outlook is positive. tripi says, “We’ll hook up again.” While she morosely admitted she wasn’t going back to his place, she did say, ”He’s going to email, he’s going to send me some of his paintings.”
However, it wasn’t all good: “I missed a few good tracks while I was talking to him !”
tripi taka was in fact missing some @!#$-hot ITM CD selections, as Will, TwoUp, buda, and Rollar took over from where the early-finishing in-house DJ left off.
Tune of the night was TwoUp’s classic pick, Dance 2 Trance – “Power of American Natives”, but Rollar did well to impress the ladies with some crazy crossfading of “Doom’s Night” and a Propellerheads rewind selecta to boot.
The posters kept coming out of the woodwork with the tardily arriving phatboy and fUnKy1 (sans astrogirl). fUnKy was at the end of a hard evening’s “pub crawl research” and quickly confessed to being a) smashed, and b) a chain smoker.
phatboy got a rousing welcome and rewarded the masses by even busting some moves with the hot shoe shuffler herself, lil_jazz. One of the disappointments of the night was the absence of BreaKinIt’s promised ‘Running Man’ tutelage.
With Rollar jumping all over the Globe, GfunK making eyes at new love tripi taka, bekk racking up new husbands by the handful, and TwoUp running out of pretzels, it was time to separate the men from the boys.
suparockin and Caz_B were first to go, the latter needing to duck down to the local pharmacy for some Panadeine Forte (or something). bekk and tripi taka were next to go, and fUnKy1 left after a brief cameo and eightysomehing cigarettes. BreaKinIt piked and candlestickmakr and phatboy mumbled something about ‘work’ and ran home to bed.
That left Rollar, lil_jazz, TwoUp, and Tyson to carry the ITM flame onto Oxford Street in their quest to find covert_a. Kinselas’ Middle Bar was an obvious choice but there was to be found only the disproportionate imitator, coveta (pr: koh-VETTE-ah).
Threatened with a fast-closing bar, the death trap otherwise known as Rollar’s car wound its way to Kings Cross and lil_jazz’s pick of the night, Barons.
It was here that the night would enter the rise cycle, a nice homely chill, and a backgammon tournament to boot.
At 3.30, TwoUp decided he was going to pick up a pack of pretzels and catch a taxi to the other timezone sometimes referred to as ‘Liverpool’. The rest piled into Rollar’s car for a quick inspection of such Kings Cross hotspots as the Trashbox and China Shite,
The big news of the morning was that Tyson went home with lil_jazz, a tidbit sure to send shockwaves through the forum.
Meantime Rollar almost wiped out his car on a wayward telegraph pole but would overcome his own trashedness and eventually struggle home.
‘inthemidweekdrunkenness 001’ has been hailed as a roaring success by all attendees (especially lovestruck tripi taka), and itmd002 is only going to be better. Make sure you’re on the guest list !

Would it make sense "not" to have this at some club night? For example, I mean I'm all for meeting new people and stuff but I absolutely hate trying to talk (which I always end losing my voice or going hoarse) to someone over the top of a blaring sound system....
Some chilled laidback bar like Revolver or Lounge or something like that would make more sense wouldn't it?
Just my $3.42c worth......
fUnky1 it sound like up ppl had s good time well I don't care were the Melb ITM meetup is but to let you all know I'm there.
HAHHAHAHA- who asked you brett :P Nah in all seriousness (for my 3.48 cents worth) I totally agree, a club or party is sometimes frustrating for a meet uP! here here for revolver or Lounge.. ..... .... .... In a couple of weeks time we'll get this thing underway! *yihaaa** BTW yes yes that story was marvellous- Only Sebastien could have written that! such a creative boy...
like, i won't be here the weekend after the plumps... i'm movin back to sydney!!!!!
wonderbella :)
What the hell is going on? Are we sill going to have a ITM meet up or what it got a big hype but now is's dead.
