FRESH 31/03/01

The third FRESH for 2001 features a heavily progressive feel with 9 of Melbourne’s best underground producers (5 of them playing live) over 3 floors/2 rooms in the vibey atmosphere of

Club UK in the City. FRESH is still the only night in Melbourne that showcases underground dance producers and live acts, where you get to hear seriously new music and party at the same time. Also on the night in the Engine Room, will be live, interactive video projections from EdiblePlastyc & OM, which will be a regular feature at FRESH.

If you haven’t been to a FRESH before, get down to this one as it’s promising to be the best so far… and to top it off, special guest on the night will be Jayson Digby playing an hour of his and Gab Oliver\'s own produced material (thru Zero Tolerance Records) under the name Digby & Oliver followed by an hour of Deep House.

This weeks feature :: BLAC

Jamie\'s \"BLAC\" obsession with percussive sounds started when his mother bought him his first tribal drum at the tender age of 6 years old. He first started DJying in the mid 80\'s
His main influences were strong Hip-Hop beats cut with razor sharp scratching. During this time he experimented with many different sounds & styles of big break remixing, while DJying & producing for local rap acts under the names JMC and Smooth J.
As the host of his own show on community radio station 3YYR, he served up a mix of old skool rap hip-hop & mixed breaks which gained a strong following in the underground scene. His strong affinity for pounding beats was rekindled by an exploration of the Melbourne Techno scene & after a long absence from the music arena.
BLAC returned as a finalist in the 1999 Melbourne Music Expo DJ contest where he brought with him he\'s new found passion for banging minimum techno sounds. Combining his love for music & interest in computers he has set about producing some of the darkest & hardest rhythms to drive ravers mad.
