As written by Kitten:
Nevertheless street wear is still dominating the club scene and it is liberating that we no longer have to wear really dressy clothes to clubs. Nothing is better than feeling comfortable but still looking sexy. If this season’s clothes are anything to go by, club land will be looking very hot this winter.

You think? You say this as if it's a bad thing? Liberating? What about those who actually enjoying dressing up to get down?

Sure the glam set get annoying, but yeah there are those of us who know about music and take an interest.

It disheartens me to see kids in grotty trainers in a slick bar, next to silver Armani. Ok... not every one can afford it, and it's not necessarily about branding, but experimenting and making an effort is always nice.

Sure, cruise to your local in kicked back gear and to a rave-esque style party, but dress up where appropriate.

Interested in other peoples thoughts. Maybe it's just my love and past involvement with the fashion industry that gets me thinking this way.

"Sure, cruise to your local in kicked back gear and to a rave-esque style party, but dress up where appropriate."

Glad you made that comment because i was going to retaliate with i wouldnt party at the docks (RIP) or even some of the club venue parties in my more dressy clothes, simply for that fact that you dish out the money and you wouldn't want to get those prada shoes or your armani pants all dirty with that annoying talcum powder (melbourne thang more so than other states i believe) and ruined with cigarette burns.

Dress up where appropriate...yes totally agree, but not if u want to bust a few moves on the dance floor as opposed to sipping on a few cocktails and nodding ur head to the music.

To get to my point, street wear can be sexy and at the same time comfy to have a boogie in, but if you are going to a place where you *can* dress up more than usual its always nice too.

ps: prada & dkny make sneakers :P (how mulitfunctional is that hey) *snickers*

Each to their own, but dont look down on me when you see me in the club in my Merrell's. I like to dance so i wear what i consider to be stylish clothes with shoes that allow me to "shake my booty". And I also wear what I wear to clubs and venues where i consider my style of dressing fits in with the other groovers. The glam scene is not for me. I dont have a problem with people wearing their high heels, just dont expect me to be like you. For me it's music first.

FFS, I saw chicks wearing high heels on a Breakbeat boatcruise :) I dont think they were thinking about a) dancing b) boats and c) rolling waves when they left home. Makes for a hilarious combination when you throw high heels in! But cool for them if they enjoyed the music ;)

Yeah,

I totally support the idea of dressing for the right occasion, but the problem remains that what one person deems to be appropriate/acceptable clubwear can be totally unacceptable to the next. Dressing right is a personal, subjective thing.

The bottom line should be - if it feels good, DO IT! I would hate to think that because my shoes were not made by Louis Vuitton they are any less appropriate. The label, no matter how expensive , is not an accessory in itself, and let's not forget some of the fashion disasters created by these labels - but that's not for me to say.

If it makes you feel good about yourself, wear it. Personally I like to think that if I need to change what I'm wearing to feel comfortable in a club, then that club is NOT for me - because it ain't about the label, it's about the tunes.

Keep dancin'.

The reality of it is that all these places have differing dress codes...However speaking from my point of view, the ravers of this town generally look at clubbers with disdain as it appears that they are shouting out "Ooooh look at me in my Kookai boob tube/industrie tank top....ie. @ Seven. Its this type of pretentious attitude that shits me. What do you come for? to enjoy the music or to show your latest designer purchase. Perhaps some of you are different....but why then do you wear your Prada 6 inch heels to warehouse doofs then?...pretty stupid

You wouldn't being wearing Prada heels to a rave, I don't think anyone would be stupid enough.

But Kookai and Industrie are hardly what I'd called designer wear, puh-lease.

Yes, Prada trainers are the shiznit, saw the new range on the weekend!! Some interesting new -bright- colors.... get away from that orange!!

It all comes down to personal choice... That's it...

Yep. I wear my fave orange pants, an old blue or yellow t-shirt, or a white t-shirt, and my sunnies (they be blue, and make @!#$ look real cool). Big deal. No brands, no worries. And im happy dancing next to anyone, regardless what they wear, as long as they be dancing! Sure ill dress up if i plan to go out somewhere, but if im going out to dance, i wanna be comfortable. I agree with the idea of wear what u want, when and where u want, and dont be surprised if u get kicked back from somewhere fancy if u look like me. =) heheheheheh LONG LIVE CAPSULE!

WHATEVER.

I hate dressing up and I refuse to do it. Go ahead and wear whatever you want but, but just don't make it policy at the door. That shiits to tears. Any place that turns me away for not wearing trainers or whatever can get fuct.

But having said that, I know a lot of people who love it, which is great for them, and I have no problem dancing next to someone in an "outfit". I love a bit of fashion discussion though (thanks Kitten).
