View Full Version : Numark Hdx
i updated one of my cdj200's to a numark hdx the other week, i decided to stray away from upgrading to a cdj1000, only because i wanted to try something different. And to be completely honest i am loving it. has anyone used the hdx before? i used it at a gig last sat night, and it went off perfectly, i highly reccommend these, what are your thoughts? i do realize that the cdj1000's are the industry standard, and that every man and his dog uses them or wants to own them, but as an alternative, these rock! em!

Hey,
I found Numark to be a very innovative company and owned some they product before.
They are many reasons as to why some would get the CDJ1000, but I guess one of them like you mention is because it's the player you are more likely to find in a club, and thus people get comfortable using them at home for practise, so they are not lost in a club, and nothing wrong with that, when you get used to a tool, you do your best stuff with and able to perform better.
One of the major difference though if I am not mistaken is that this is a HD player, and I can't remeber if it also play CD, but if he doesn't he would mean that you could only play whatever is on the hardrive as opposed to the cdx, thus probably better for mobile djing.
They are a few players out there that probably don't get the attention they deserve, but that is how the business goes.

yeah they still have the cd player in them, they play cd, cdrw and dvdr (music files) it doesnt phase me that much because i use this when i gig at the nightclub, i take my deck in and hook it up to his gear and use that as one of my sources.
I think the big downfall of the HDX is the fact that while you have an 80gb hard drive which you can store a shitload of music on, you only have a tiny screen to view each track on, you would have to take with you a list of every track on that hard drive, in order with you to a gig in order to source out which song you wish to play next otherwise you could spend 10mins or more just going thru each song till you find what you want

That is so weird. My mates and I were just talking about the HDX. Is it the one with the vinyl sized platter?

its not that bad because songs can be sorted into playlists, as well as the searching via track name or artist or even bpm can be done and in alphebetical order as well, so finding the songs is no drama what so ever
