Yeah I only got 7..... perhaps I'm not as good as I thought I was. Should spend less time mixing and more time testing my knowledge of 'fishing for records' and 'roundabouts'.

Hmmm... what a tiresome quiz.
- A 12" features *only* one song? Whereas it could have, say, up to 3 mixes on a side?
- Dropmix? Like Nick said, how on earth can the writer honestly believe it's "gradually fading between two tracks"?
And the clincher:
"Which number is NOT DJ shorthand for a piece of equipment?"
a) 101
b) 202
c) 606
d) 1200
The correct answer is: 101
606s and 808s are kinds of well-known drum machines. A 1200 is a popular kind of turntable.
Well he seriously screwed up that question/answer, didn't he. :slap:

Well got 9/10 thanks to a couple of less-than-obvious answers posted here... and then got struck down by that fookin' 101 question... I put 606 thinking, "Well, he's obviously got no clue, and what are the odds he's even heard of a 606?"...
...But I couldn't have been any more wrong. :(

Au contraire, the SH101 is less common as a DJ tool than a 202 or 606 which are micro composer and drum machine respectively which makes the 1200 more in line really.
And I got 9, but then again all on this forum ought to be getting 10 really. The drop mix question got me but then again . . . . who the f*&k calls it that!!

That drop one is shit, when a 3 Steps Ahead track says "Drop it" you prepare yourself for a sonic onslaught, not the subtle addition of another layer of melody.
I got 8. The drop it one and the fishing for records bullshit, I was too busy lookin for the "diggin" option to think about the other.
>A 12-inch is a kind of vinyl record that only has one song-- a single.
bzzt, its 12" because it's a disk that is... wait for it.... 12inches :-0
LP's are 12"s as well

I thought a drop mix was when you rock the kick out live on the system them let it drop straight on top of the other track. Much like what you would do in you cans with the fader down in a normal mix. But instead hittin it out with the fader up for all to hear. Most used in hip hop or breaks.

the " drop mix " ( as we in australia know it - suddenly dropping a track, stupid quiz ) is second only in poor taste to " the spinback "
hehe

I thought a drop mix was when you were such an utterly retarded dj you droppped your records all the time and got them "mixed" up. That was really not funny... 8/10 for me

I've also heard people refer to a bad mix as "dropping a mix". Or "he dropped that mix".
So not far off.

That quiz should have been called "Do you speak lame American wedding DeeJay". Of course to truly speak this foreign and confusing language you have to have studied the entire back catalogue of Barry Manilow albums...
Switching between two songs playing simultaneously is called:
1. Alternating
2. Crossfading
3. Switching up
4. Tossing
I thought it was Tossing.....
8/10
what was that scratching question all about?
