Just started mixing on two cd'js as opposed to vinyl and matching bpms is shitting me. I have never had trouble keeping bpm's matched, Cant say the same thing now i am on cdj's. Has anyone else had this problem making the transition from decks to cds? I just cant seem to hold the beat like i used too and i was on turntables which were drifting in and out the tempo as they desired but i rode the fader. I can only assume it is due to how the fader goes up in increments of 0.02, 0.05 etc as opposed to the turntable. I changed the tempo to +6 so it goes up in increments of 0.02 but it isn't happening at the moment.

A bit more prac and it should be all good but fuck!

try looking at the percentage increase on the cdj display rather than going by your hand as you would do with a turntable

Nope ... i found it strange to use the jog wheel when i first jumped on my CDJ 800 ... but ahh ... to be honest, i've gotten lazy i'm now spot on 95 percent of the time with my CDJ's and only about 85 percent of the time with Vinyl ...
Practice it up man, i can garuntee you'll find CDJ's a breeze once you get your head around the differnce of vinyl and the visual elements they have.

Nick is on the money. It does take getting used to but once you have it, it's easy as piss. Just practise. I like CDJ's more now because I can see exactly how much I am changing shit buy, rather than going by feel. You know if that little touch actually did anything at all.

Don't use the top of the jog wheels surface, but if you use the side of the jog wheel, you can bend the pitch by giving it a quarter of a spin either way. If you have it on pitch lock, you can't even hear the adjustment.

Mate I would suggest using the Jog Wheel to pitch bend like gamblore said. I have never found riding the bitch to work on CDJ's... I'm sure some people do it that way, but I find setting the pitch and adjusting with the jog wheel, then setting the pitch, and adjusting with the jog wheel the easiest way.

Because turntables are more mechanical you can feel it when you ride the pitch, but I find I can't feel it on CDJ's so I just use the above mentioned method - it does take some getting used to though (the jog wheel that is)
