G'Day Guys,
So im currently in the market to get a new mixer with effects... I'm a poor uni student so price sadly was a BIG deciding factor for me as DJing is still really just a glorified hobby at this stage.
Im looking for a mixer with 4 channels and some effects to go with 2x Numark CDJ's and 2x Stanton T60 Turntables as well as scratch live. As i said.... its not the best gear in the world but i think its an okay set up for a student.
From the reading i have done i narrowed it done to the following 3 mixers within my price range.
1) Numark 200FX - Rack mounted - which i could pick up for about $500
2) Numark 5000FX - which i can get for about $750-$800. A mate has this mixer and i really enjoy using it.
3) American Audio MX1400 which i can get for about $800.
I was just wondering if anyone out there has these mixers or has heard good or bad things about each one?
If anyone knows of any other models i have over looked (its really gotta be <$1000) that would suit my needs please let me know.
Anyones help on this is apreciated!

Better to buy a quality mixer and get an effects unit later down the road IMO. You will want something thats reliable and has good sound, not just something to flange the fuck out of a track. For under $1000 you could get a nice mixer and an effects unit 2nd hand if you look hard enough.

If your bedroom banging you dont have to worry about the quality of the sound because more then likely you'll be playing out of cheap speakers anyway. Even through my studio monitors you dont notice a difference between my 5000fx, a DJM800, A&H Xone62 and there is a big price difference between them.
I have a 5000fx. Good mixer, there are a few threads containing info on these mixers if you search for them. But the effects on them suck. I picked mine up for $450 though so search around - some places sell them for really cheap these days.
As for the AA MX-1400DSP - they look pretty cool but i havent used one.

Best mixer in your price range with your requirements in my opinion is the Denon dnX1500, second hand they are around $800-900. Check it out on google
I will vouch for the Numark FX5000 - played on one for a few hours on saturday night and was impressed considering its price. I myself use a djm-800 but if I had to get a cheaper mixed I would go with the FX5000...

He started at $1200 then lowered it to $999.... but I managed to talk him down to $850 Cash and i went and picked it up!

Nice work, you will be happy with it :)
Make sure you download the manual from Denon's website to get the most out of it
you can buy them new for $1200 can't you :?
nice work, at least you didn't buy a DJM600.

Yeah i did find 1 place in melbourne who would offer it that cheap but then i had to get it shipped to brisbane which is an extra cost... and personally.... the place sounded a little dodgy!
That and as a poor uni bum i had the $850 but not the $1200 plus shipping. Anyone who is keen to kick in the extra for me is more then welcome.
The first thing i did was go straight to the Denon Website get the updates... i run a Mac tho with final scratch so i had to borrow my housemates PC to update it...
Second thing i did was plug it all in and the third thing.... MIXED FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS STRAIGHT.... it is in great condition and everything works a treat. Problem now of course is that i have to pull an all nighter finishing this assignment i should have been doing!
So to all the Denon DN-X1500 owners out there reading... any tips? i think i had the basics all done but im slowly going to make my way through the manual to get it all down pat.
This now makes my set up:
-2x Numark AXIS 4 (they are sooo dodgy but at least they work)
-2x Stanton T.60 (driect drives... not to bad but this is the next upgrade for me to Technics 1200's)
-1x Denon DN-X1500 Mixer (who thinks that this mixer is worth more then the whole set up... HAHAHAH :-D)
-1x Serato Scratch Live (Best money i ever spent other then the mixer)
and a MacBook!
So from here i guess its practise practise practise so that i can get some cd's made to hand out to club managers.... any club managers in brisbane need a DJ for the grave yard shifts? hahahah
Back to the assignment.
