Not sure if anyone has used this program from beatport but im just trying it out now and the download speed is so fucking slow!!
Has anyone else used it and/or had the same problem? Or does anyone know a way of maybe speeding it up (im running ADSL 2 and normally downloads are pretty quick, im no computer wizz but I know it shouldnt be this slow!)
cheers :thumb:
who cares, it's an auto downloader..... just put all your tracks in the crate then come back before you go to bed, buy them, run the downloader and go to bed.
wake up with new tracks.

point taken....
i know what you mean, but i think it's better beatport limiting the speed and having an auto downloader than downloading at adsl2+ speeds and watching it.
have you tried downloading the tracks normally? it used to be okay speeds (700-900kbs)

Yeah I normally download the songs individually and this is only the first time I have used the auto downloader, wanted to see how everyone else goes with it...its just annoying cause I will buy 50-70 songs at a time every few weeks and it is a day long excerise without the auto downloader, but with it it takes longer because of the slow downloads...catch 22 I guess....
Beatport recommends that you download 1 track at a time.
The Downloader is to ensure that the download is intact and errors are minimised.
Have started using it today and have found the speed to be acceptable. A step in the right direction for beatport if you ask me. :thumb:
Now only if they could get their catagorisations of tunes right...
i ignore the genre labels now and just go on labels/artists and what else people bought that bought the stuff i like.... there's just too much to sit and listen to track by track.

Im the same, the classification must be done by a half deaf monkey. There is just too much grey area between the genres with beatport, and trouble is its the grey areas I always find the tracks I want so it takes forever to trawl through them.
I have found the charts done by other people help that, saves me doing the digging!

What kind of speeds are you getting? My internet connection is slow... 256K, so I download at about 25kbps usually. I'm wondering whether that would get any slower on the Beatport downloader?

The autodownloader is shit. Its retardedly slow and it has a bad habit of crashing, just use the regular checkout links as they still lets you d/l 3 tunes at a time way faster than using the retardo-loader.

I don't mind the speed so much - I'm happy to just get it started and come back to it later. But the thing crashes all the time so I end up having to babysit it anyway.
I still use it though because it saves me having to rename the files.

The downloader is still only in beta so you have to expect some bugs - mine crashes everytime I use it but it seems to pick up OK where it left off and no harm done, but I'd still prefer it to downloading a track at a time off the website and sitting there waiting
I've downloaded 2-3 gig and it's never crashed.

Use Traktor and it will queue all you downloads at once then stick them all in the Beatport folder categorised by label and stripe them too. Leaves any other way of doing it for dead and has the benefit of being just as fast as downloading through eithr IE7 or firefox.

The Beatport downloader is good... if it allowed 2 or 3 simultaneous downloads.
it is slow but it works
Bracko hit the nail on the head, set it up and then head off to bed

Everytime I've used it in the last month it has left heaps of my downloads short, It definately is a good idea but needs a heap of fine tuning.
There is even a dedicated section in the help area, "What to do if my downloads are cut short in Beatport Downloader". It is definately giving alot of people headaches.
