ok ok
so i played a gig last friday night and it was awesome EXCEPT, both times i use mp3 cds on a pair of cdj1000mk3 half way through the songs they stopped playing out of no where.

this left me in an embarrasing silence. ouch. and i had to scramble to play another song which had a minute and a half intro of dull beats!

haha way to kill the vibe and mood i was getting. fuck!

anyway point of this post is i no longer trust mp3 cds. the first song that stopped it came up with E8065 or some shit number.

the second time on the other cdj whats more it just froze. heaps shite!

has anyone else had those problems???

warning: never use mp3cds live.

- What firmware on the Mk3's? They should be at 2.20 - turn it on and hold down 'reloop' for 10 seconds, it will tell you.

- What kind of MP3 were you playing (192k/320k/VBR)?? Almost all Mp3 CDJs hate VBR, try to avoid using it.

- What kind of disc? Avoid shitty cheap CDRs, only use the top shelf jap-made ones (I only use Taiyo Yuden brand).

- Have you tried the cd you were using in another CDJ and let it play right through?

I've seen that E8065 whatever code come up on mine when using a certain MP3 cd (I think it was Digitalism, which has japanese characters in the name). It didnt stop playing but I saw the code when I was skipping between tracks.

I'd be curious to know. The only problems I have with my mk3s are when you use VBR mp3s it does not show the waveform as it has problems decrypting the VBR. Also when you try to do a spinback or fast forward quickly it starts to make the digital glitch sound while it tries to seek and decrypt VBR at the same time.

So yeah, the above is a start to troubleshoot... sounds like your disc or mp3 has issues.

Burn Cd's as an Audio File.... I have never had a problem with that although I've only been at it for 5 months

I have a different CD player that doesn't play MP3's, but it's happened to me a few times with a regular CD. One track in particular does it every now and then in the same (quiet) spot.

It was the auto-cue thinking the track had finished. You can turn it off while the tracks playing, and then back on before it ends to avoid the problem (if you know where it's likely to happen).

But auto-cue cues at the FIRST part or audio in the track.. so it wouldnt have anything to do with he ending of the track.. would it?

^ I don't understand your point

All I know is that in my particular circumstances disengaging the auto-cue prevented the track from stopping prematurely.

Beckas' issue may be something entirely different; but it's something to check out.

It depends on the CDJ. Some auto cue when the track is finished and some play through to the next track. Also depends on the settings as well. Could be worth a try, but I highly doubt it because it would go off the time the track is meant to play for, not if a track has no sound playing (i.e. a very quite breakdown). Write down the exact code next time when it says error and google it.

Hmm I'ver never had an error. I use the CDJ-100's and they auto Cue at the start and let the song play through then stop..

Auto cue looks for track markers/points not silence.

I never trusted Mp3 and CDJ, somehow it may have to do with the way you burn them, it's complicated. I'll rather stick to normal CDs to avoid the problems...

Yeah just burn proper audio cd's. More reliable. Less songs per cd and thus easier to sort (in my opinion).

hotsauce!
