Can you run serato using tracks stored on an external HD, or do you have to store all of your WAV's etc on the laptops actual hard drive?

External drive is fine - i was worried there would be a latency or loading issues but no stress at all.
ive always used serato with an external hdd. it works great. keeps my laptop clean and still works spot on. its best to get a 7200rpm external hdd though because it will send the data faster and smoother. all you gotta do is plug it in and load it into serato and your away

Ace!
7200 is definately the go? (i guess extra speed never hurts!)
yea. you can use the 5400..apparentli it still works really good, but ive never tried it but would like to because i want a 2.5in hdd not a 3.5in coz with the 3.5in you have to use an external power adapter which sucks. and they really big

This was covered about a week ago.
The answer is: yes. Even pure WAV data is no match for the data throughput of even a 4200rpm laptop drive.
You can even use USB flash memory keys, and your iPod.
