View Full Version : Denon DN-S5000 problem: discs won't go in!

Okay, so I just bought myself a near-enough-to-new DN-S5000 from eBay (in hindsight, perhaps not the wisest move), and have found on delivery that it doesn't bloody work. I suspect something happened in the mail since the seller seems honest enough, but it doesn't really matter either way. Point is it don't work.

The problem is simple: the discs will not go in. When you attempt to insert a CD into the drive, it will go in about an inch or two, whir a little like it's gonna suck it properly, get stuck, whir some more, then "eject" it.

Looking around these forums, the obvious conclusion is that I'll first try to clean the rollers. I hope hope hope this fixes it, but it seems doubtful.

Failing this, what are my options? If I can't fix it, I will be sending it back to the seller, but that's a last resort. I'm not a very mechanically minded guy, but if this is likely to be something relatively simple, is it worth me unscrewing the drive and taking a look inside? If so, what am I looking for and how might I fix it?

This is so frustrating.

Hope someone can help...

Send it back to seller and get a pioneer unit - they are bulletproof!

Press the eject button, there may already be a cd in there

Hey, My dns 3000's do this when they get really hot sometimes.

I find if you keep gently pushing the cd in while it's trying to pull it in it will ussually fix the problem.

I remember there being a video tutorial on the forums there for cleaning the rollers.

Too much work for too little gain. It bothers me NADA having to encourage the cd in a bit.
