I was sitting down the other day and reading something in these very forums. It was about where they are holding Gatecrasher.

People we have a problem. There are no 5000 plus venues that are really suited to the smaller guy, the people trying to dip their feet into the dance event arena.

What i am looking at begining is the biggest list of legal rave/dance event venues we can make. I'm not looking for just whimsical ideas. We need serious thought and research. Is the owner willing to put on a party? Is the place suitable? what about location? residents etc...

YOU could discover the next Global Village or the next Shed 14. These are names that will stick with you for the rest of your life. Imagine if it was the venue you disovered that they held the next big one at.

Start looking guys and girls! For the sake of the dance massive.

Are there any large unused airports around?....does moorabbin operate anymore??
In all honesty i think a hangar would be an awesome place for a party if you like the docks style thing :)......which most of us sure did( spare a thought for those wonderful sheds people!)

the hangar might sound a little far fetched..but i think its a definate possibilty!

Sounds like a great idea! Yeah sweet. But could you all do me a favour? I'm trying to do a write up on this and it would be really helpfull if you could get in contact with a person in charge of the venue Estate agent, Owner, Manager etc and find out some info? I'll credit you with any help you can give me.

hey ppl...

i work in real estate (operating in the western suburbs)

i have contacted essendon airport on many occasions...they do have hangers there but apparently they are all leased at the moment....another area includes the industrial parks in sunshine and footscray....

now from what i understand with industrial zoning etc., is that there are 2 types: general industrial and light industrial....

general industrial is mostly (if not always) located furthest away from residential areas because of what they emitt and/or the level of production (ie how long they operate for, sometimes 24hrs)...

light industrial is basically like a factory that operates as per usual and is often found anywhere close to anything...ie: hyde st in footscray (close to global village i believe)...

i have driven around the general areas and have sourced heaps of venues but the bottom line is money...if u have the money, u have the venue...

hope all this helps :))

No matter where you hold events, there'll always be some tossers complaining about the noise or some other gay thing like that. :(

Hey dont worry bout it Wassabi, coz there is plenty of places where people can throw parties that fit lotsa people and dont cost a cent.

The Forbidden Freelands ones last year were in those grotty coal sheds and shitloads of people came and noone got a permit for the place it was illegal. Idont think the death of the docklands really means the death of the illegal massive raves, there is still gonna be the free underground ones everywhere.
