'Music of the Universe'. Nice Russian space disco rock.

Maybe. Although, I've been playing some of my records on a new fang-dangle hi-fi turntable I recently purchased and after so many years listening to digital music mediums i can see how people use the adjective "warm" to describe vinyl but it isn't too many steps for me to also use the adjectives "dull", "muddy", "cloudy" and "compressed" to describe the sound of vinyl.

Well according to wikipedia.......... The Konami Code (A.K.A. Contra Code) is a cheat code that can be used in many Konami video games, usually giving the player a large number of lives or fully charging up the abilities of the character. The code was first used in the 1986 release of Gradius for the Nintendo Entertainment System but was made famous in the Contra series. During the title screen, the player presses the following sequence of buttons on the game controller:

But Mr K can you 'listen' to silence? Listening is being attentive to what the ear hears and ears only hear if air particles collide against each other due to vibrations/oscillations.

:P
Sadly, my silence has been corrupted for many years by tinnitus so the closest i get get to the beauty of silence is listening to waves, wind and rain and any other soft and subtle continuous sound.

i love the 13.30mins version of the bottle....the drumming and percussion breakdown in the middle towards the end is insane!!!I heard russ drewbury drop it upstairs at the columbian one friday night at about 3.30 in the morning...it went off....speaking of the columbian gordon watson plays disco and jazz/funk bombs every friday from midnite till whenever they close...im always asking him "what track is that?"

One of my all-time favourite tracks from an all time fave album (Pieces of a Man)
Word Sueno . As much as I enjoy Esthers version, agreed Gil Scotts version is, in a word, incredible and Pieces of a Man is one of the best albums ever released.
The track of today is : Andy Bey - Celestial Blues

Trus'me album; Working nights
An oldie but a goody Teena Marie; Behind the groove also covered by the UB's on electric souls (still cant decide which I like best ) Both dance floor destroyers

i've noticed everything freddie hubbard related is damn HOT. this lp= so good it hurts. seriously. is that a shit description? i can't really better when it comes to jazz... i've only just started REALLY loving and collecting it the past year maybe. Found a better analysis... and it's right... its funky shit:
"A fine and funky bit of soul jazz from trumpeter Freddie Hubbard in 1973. Ron Carter provides a very funky cycling bass line which ably anchors the song, along with the support of both drums and percussion. Over this both Hubbard and Junior Cook on tenor sax solo take extended periods. Of the two, Hubbard gets the bigger space, demonstrating what he'd learned through his years: staying mostly blue and groovy, he does manage at times to throw in shades of Miles' bop playing. A light sprinkling of electric piano runs along behind this, somewhere between the rhythm and the solos.
There is not a lot of trumpeters in soul jazz, which mostly featured some combination of sax, guitar and organ. So it is a treat to hear this track, especially as it is one of the funkiest examples of the genre."

[QUOTE=hubris]Freddie Hubbard - Keep Your Soul Together
Nice pick Hubris !
In the last couple of months I have picked up & highly recommend the following early 70s CTI albums from this brilliant trumpeter, active for over 5 decades with a discography to match !!
* Red Clay (CTI)
* First Light (CTI)
* Straight Life (CTI)
* Sky Dive (CTI)
Check out some of the other legendary jazz heavy hitters playing with Freddie on his recording sessions in the early 70s !
* First Light included Herbie Hancock on Rhodes, guitarists Eric Gale and George Benson, bassist Ron Carter, Jack DeJohnette on drums, Airto Moreira on percussion, and Richard Wyands on acoustic piano to back him.
* Red Clay had tenor saxophonist Joe Henderson, pianist Herbie Hancock, bassist Ron Carter, and drummer Lenny White.
Also Freddie's work for Blue Note (love Open Sesame) and Impulse (love the Body and the Soul album) in the 60s is also well worth checking out.
Comprehensive discography for Freddie Hubbard can also be found at All Music Guide

Betty introduced Miles to Jimi Hendrix.. A collaboration album was in the works (around the time Miles became obsessed with rock) but was cut short only because of Jimi's passing.
