by putting their 500 cd holder case on the tt tonearm. Venues should tell them to get fucked, and its always the amateurs who do it they have no respect.

no one puts record bags on top of cdjs so why do they think that it is ohk for them to fuck up equipment

Thats what dust covers are for: They go on - and CD wallets go ontop of them. Saves tone arms and everyones happy. I'm taking it that you've recently had a bad experience about this though.

DJs never cease to amaze me.

Seriously, I feel your pain.

Well dust covers are not to convenient to be taking to gigs everywhere. Most DJ's just dont give a fuck about what they do, break or spill on other peoples gear. Karnts.

ussualy they are kept at the venue ....... though it does amuse me thinking of having to carry around 2 dust covers so you can lay wallets out on them! :)

before the smoking law came thru, a club i played at always had ash ALL OVER the mixer & tt & cause the people who played before me used cd, they didnt care but all the ash would get into the sliders & there were sticky glass marks from the beers on the platter

its just a lack of respect, u wouldnt do that at home on your own gear...

And if dust fucks up equipment, imagine what ash would do to the internals once it's worked its way into the faders.

ahh yes... if DJ's would have a little more respect -
stop spilling drinks in the equipment, stop sitting laptops on CDJ platters, stop putting CD wallets on TT's, don't ash all over the mixer, stop smashing the play and cue buttons on CDJ's and didn't redline the fuck out of the system, my life would be great! One can dream...

Funnily enough I saw the Stanton Warriors do that exact same thing two years ago - so its not just begineers

The tone arm was taking a beating because it was a CDJ only set and they had CD wallets laid out over the TT's

Great set though :)

if a dj using records can manage to put their record bag somewhere else apart from on the equipment why cant djs who bring a cd case

The majority of DJs have no respect for any of the gear that their using - be it TTs or CDJs.
Iv recently started taking out my equipment for some small events we've been throwing, and thus far both of my needles have been wrecked (mind you id only had them for around 3 months), both my 1210mk5s are beginning to float (only 2 years old), and the platter and cue button on my CDJ1000mk3 (8 months old) are starting to go.
Freakin dreadful that people have no respect for others equipment. :(

Jords, you book the djs right? pull 'em in dude. I take a cdj to the DIG MUSIC parties and I let everyone know that it is one of mine and that they should take it easy on the lady. Or else I won't pay em hahaha

They majority have been spoken to about respecting the equip - but its hard to pinpoint whos doing it. And as i tend to spend the evening enjoying the night, its hard keeping an ey of the equipment.

Think we need to find a venue with a decent setup :)
On that note - how freakin great is it to find a club with an awesome setup? Premo equipment, kept in really good condition, setup well. Nothing better!

I've walked away from servicing a club setup so its perfect - and only one week later, its trashed again. I'm starting to get over it. And its not just beginners - a lot of 'professional' dj's are culprits as well, you think they'd know better...

Laptops on my new CDJ's are what really pisses me of more than anything.
So one particular dj, I picked up my cdj and put it on his laptop, he wasnt happy, and I laughed, fucker.

what's worse is when they complain about mess and such, and then turn around and and treat the equipment like shit. hypocrites.

Alot of people dont understand that putting weight on the platter can fuck them up. My girlfriend left the yellow pages on one of my CDJs and i freaked. Luckily by baby (CDJ) is still ok, as for my girlfriend........*

My sets used to be 90% vinyl, 10% CD.

Now days my set is 95% CD, 5% vinyl. This is quite a common trend with most.

I find myself quite nervous in a club when I need to go to vinyl. Reason being, I really dont know what condition the turntable is in. Does it float? Does it have tone arm issues? Is the sound balanced?

Clubs are aware of how little tt's are being used and dont have them serviced as often as they used to. Now its pretty much a 'fix as you go' approach rather than a preventative one.

On several occassions I have mixed in a vinyl and all is well till:
- Sound only comes out of one speaker
- It starts jumping because the tone arm has a sticking point
- Its hard to get out of the track because the pitch keeps floating
- I can hear the track getting muffled because the stylus is filling with dust (my fault)
- I am sweating because I know its gonna skate at any moment because of the dust buildup (again, my fault)
