I would like to see a record store that stocks vinyl, cd's and MP3.
I geuss that no-one can get rich paying a store's rent etc and selling MP3's though.
But that would be cool. I feel a bit lost looking for tunes, I liked going to the record store and asking them whats fresh.

It's happening around the place. I believe Spank in Sydney is doing it.

if they had computers set up that you could download from in the store and burn off CDs that would be cool. if the store got a cut or something of the sale it could work maybe.

Indeed. That technology is being brought in at HMV etc so i dont see why record stores couldnt do it too.

Why would people do that when they can do it at home? People are way too lazy i find.

^^yeh you can do it at home

I still wouldnt mind actual tracks with art/covers being sold, adds that whole shopping element, going into a store, rather then sitting like a potatoe searching through tracks, plus you can get ppl who work there to help you out as chances are they know what you like and whats hot.

But searching through tracks thorugh beatport in a store would be shit and useless, you can do that at a library or internet cafe, why do you need to go to a record store

imagine having a cd collection with proper art, paper sleeves like vinyl but only 5 inches wide, now that would be cool

i disagree! loads of people still don't have decent-speed internet at home and loads still don't have a computer etc.

i agree though with the original post :) though it'd never happen down this way... actually thinking about it i haven't bought any new music for ages :(

yeh but with spank records, can you actually go and pick up the cd from their store and listen to the cd before you buy it like a record?

what is the point of downloading it off their site? why not just use beatport, and pay 1.99 instead of $2.95, am i missing something?

i know quite a few people that want mp3s but don't have the bandwidth or the speed to get 'em mr smartypants. and to answer your question OF COURSE people without computers want mp3s. you do realise this is the 'digital age' of dj'ism don't you? used a cdj in the last few years? realised they have full mp3 support?

haha it's all good join the club

i think the concept they're championing is you can buy the mp3s from bricks and mortar shops ON A CD as opposed to downloading them so you can just chuck 'em straight in to the cdj's etc

...

i have no idea what i was getting at lol, clearly i didn't think it through. no more posting while i'm listening to hold music i guess.

not sure how i expected people to leave the store with MP3s if they shop hadn't put em on CD. not like you can just chuck them in a bag.

when i read your first post i had the harsh realisation that my post was retarded until thinking about it for a few minutes. thankfully cdj's with mp3s support saved me :D
