Linux on xbox

A challenge is out for those of the open source culture to stick it to Bill & make Linux run on the xbox. If that's not funny i dunno what is :)

I didn't read your links Nismo, but iirc, the challenge is to run it on the Xbox legally.

I think this precludes the use of a modchip/bootdisk/etc... :(


Ooh..just read this gem from the projects FAQ....

Aren't mod chips illegal?
At least not in Europe, and as long as you do not use them for piracy. For all people who might have legal problems with modchips, we are working on an alternative ROM that will contain no Microsoft code and won't permit running pirated games.

Yeah mike it's to be done legally. they already have modchips that allow you to run linux on it, but they have something like $200000 up for grabs if you can do it without a modchip.
