Sun Dog's Winter Heat Mix 2009 :)

This mix comprises some of the most powerful techno tunes from ending winter months. No minimal this time and even no specifically deep stuff, tracks are very different and contain loads of energy. Among my favourites: trembling techno tracks Drama Club and The Windey Man, anthemic detroit-influenced Mateo Murphy - Standing Waves from album "Canada Loves Techno", psychedelic Where's Mr. Brown?, which builds up to a massive thunder bass of Audiovek - Realidades Distintas..... I also included some real monsters from last year (Timo Maas - Subtellite, Jerome Sydenham - Congo, A.Mochi - Harvester), which did not find their way to my previous mixes for some reason. Enjoy, this is one massive ride through modern 130bpm-techno ;)

Here is my new techno macromix, weighing in at exactly 2 hours and 100 tracks.

It starts out with minimal techno, then moves on to straight up banging techno for the bulk of the mix, then climaxes with some hard techno, and cools down at the end with some dub and deep techno. There's also a little acid techno and tech house thrown in for flavor. The vast majority of the tracks were released within the past 6 months.

For what it's worth, my DJ name refers both to my mixing style (mixing only small portions of tracks, often edited down before mixing) and to the fact that I like to do short video mixes with techno and visuals (http://www.youtube.com/djmicromix). I'm a pure DJ hobbyist, not a professional. I started spinning about 10 years ago, then gave up vinyl for digital last year.

Here is my new techno macromix, weighing in at exactly 2 hours and 100 tracks.

It starts out with minimal techno, then moves on to straight up banging techno for the bulk of the mix, then climaxes with some hard techno, and cools down at the end with some dub and deep techno. There's also a little acid techno and tech house thrown in for flavor. The vast majority of the tracks were released within the past 6 months.

I was also quite smashed, and was getting a fair way there before I started playing at 12, using a turntable, two CD players, an FM tuner, a laptop that kept bumming-up and crashing, an iPod, and a dictaphone. One of the channels (the one with the dictaphone) seemed to drop out somewhere at the beginning of the set, but I couldn't be bothered fixing it.

Tracklist looks terribly self-indulgent, what with all the Little Nobody references, but most of these little numbers are the rather brilliant remixes I've been getting this year, so I just really wanted to throw them out there on a half-decent system. And man they work. The DJ Rush track and the Luke's Anger number I added in 'cos I love 'em. As you probably know.

DJing isn't really my niche these days (when was it? Ha Ha Ha!), especially going principally digital, so it's messy and I know there were lots of annoying mistakes in there and moments when I completely zoned out, focused instead on the next beer or getting tangled in the headphones cord, but overall it went down a treat and at least I didn't bust the crossfader.

Hey all. Its been quite a while since I put out a demo mix. With Clubbed Up Radio being online every week its almost seemed uneccasry to keep flooding the net with more mixes, however I got chance to pull this one out the bag over the weekend which I am pleased about. I thought i'd share a recent mix that I was asked to put together for a radio show in Paris (Minimo on VAllee FM) which, now that it has gone to air, i have put up for download. Decided to mix this one live as opposed to construct it in Ableton, and i'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Some quite stripped back tech house and minimal techno, moving through some more driving sounds (particularly the Fiord remix of Tarantella –Karma, with the original being one of my all tim favourite tracks from many years ago), along with some beautiful melodic techno from Micromattic. Anyway, I hope you enjoy :) Feedback always appreciated!

Hey,

So I'm new to the ITM forums and if it's OK I'd just like to ask a HUGE favour from you all... Below you'll see a link for a 30 minute downloadable promo mix which includes ten tracks (@ 320kbs).

The tracks all fit into Electro and Fidget genres and have been broken up for two reasons:
a) You don't have to listen to a long stream
b) if you like a track you'll have the name and artist (track list included in DL) so you can download your own copies from beatport, djdownload or other online music services.

I'd really appreciate it if you could download the zipped file (72MB) and give lend me your thoughts on the pros and cons of the mix. What I'm looking for ideally is a rating between 1-10 on aspects:
i) Mixing
ii) Song choice
iii) Set flow

Okay, so I heard this song when I was in Brisbane at GPO
and it goes sometthingg like "I feel it burning burning... i see it coming coming"... and yeah my mind just goes blank. Was a big night I think, but I heard it for the first time in Melbourne the other night and it's a great song.

Thanks mate! The idea was to mix old influential tracks with the new ones, changing the mood and tempo during the set. Unfortunately there aren't many opportunities to make a set like this (props to MXML!). Glad you appreciated! :thumb:

Hey peeps

Here was a mix I did a few months back upon our relocation to Berlin....it's a mix of some obscure netlabel stuff (including melbourne's forty6&two) and some more well known tunes...it was mixed in one take with a pair of 1200s and a crappy 2ch numark mixer....there is 1 or 2 little hiccups but overall I think it's mixed quite well. I find it a fairly dark and moody mix which reflected the long european winter :) but maybe not everyone's cup of tea...it's definately not a peak time dancefloor set :)

Definitely the variety here is what makes it special, mate - likewise, I think this adds dimension and stops a set from ever sliding into the pasteurized and homogenized variety. More please!

Haven't taken the time for a setlist, but if you like Joel Mull, Allan Fitzpatrick, Dubfire, Secret Cinema, Len Faki, Surgeon, Joris Voorn, Raudive or Samuel L Session you wont be terribly dissappointed.

It's mostly mixed on 3 and 4 decks. I'm reasonably happy with it. I've done better, but it's also better than most of the shit people listen to nowadays ;)
