Firstly, excellent idea for a new forum.

Secondly:

'How the hell do you do a remix?'

Generally the artist or the artist's record label will select you to remix the track and send you the key elements/samples from the track.

If you just want to do one yourself you're going to have to get creative with sampling.

try using acid pro. ima sound like im in love with program i know but it works wonders speshly with remixing.

download a good midi of the track u wanna remix. u can tear it apart in acid and keep only the parts u want ie. bassline, melody etc. u can also change the instruments to give it a different sound.

find an accapella of the track. keep parts of it u like or use the whole thing if u want. u can also put effects on it. then get a different drum beat. there are loads of loops u can download so finding 1 to suit aint too hard.

wallah!!! basically u have a brand new track. i remixed "tell me" by groove theory. sounded pretty cool. stopped working on it to start my own project. but it was quite an easy way of doing things.

pm me if u like. glad to help out in any way.

btw... acid beatmaps any wav file into the tempo of the track u r making without changing the pitch of the file. so if u have vocals from a 95bpm tack and u r building a 120bpm track it will b at the right tempo. u may need to tweak it a lil to get it perfect but i tells ya... it is sooooooo sweet to work with.

or you can do it the hard way... :meh: well not really

I've been remixing nfx otherwise known as "paddlepop" on this forum...

basically i listened through the track a few times, then looped a section and gradually built the melody parts into a piano roll from there, piece by piece. I then have all the notes and i can choose whatever sound I want to put to them. Its more versatile than direct sampling but it does take you a while, especially if you dont have a musical ear.
