Due to popular demand, we introduce the 'Music Production & Technology Forum'. Any new forum needs a guardian, and preferably, for this one, someone who knows a bit about music technology.

If you think you're the person, and you'd like to be one of the moderators of the 'Music Production & Technology Forum', apply by replying..

I would love to do this. I have been in music since I was born, currently play around the place a bit and have built my own studio etc......

I would also like to suggest that PhunkDust do it (if he is willing) I reckon he knows his **** pretty good too.

djdrey: I am wondering if this forum could also be considered as a General Technology forum? For example, inclusive of topics such as general computing equipment, software and telecommunication devices.

nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh lets just keep it as music tech geeks. and dj's forum :)

hpstekno
05-Jul-02, 12:07pm
i'd like to try and keep it music orientated

Serotone
05-Jul-02, 12:34pm
yeah music oriented only. I also suggest having a 'FAQ' sectino at the top for those common beginner questions like 'where do i start', etc etc. Maybe we could put enough useful information to warrant having it on a seperate section of the site!

phunkdust
05-Jul-02, 02:06pm
well, my "getting started" article has been online on ITM for a while now... perhaps a catalyst for a dedicated production & tech section on ITM?

Serotone
05-Jul-02, 02:47pm
hmmmm i'm up for it. i haven't written an article for itm for a long time...

hmmph!

i think one of them was on the kstation....can't remember. but it didn't seem to fit in with the rest of the stuff.

so yeah...im' up for it!

phunkdust

maybe we need to form a production & technology crew to get it happening...?

I'd love to see more reviews and features on music equipment etc on the site. If you're all keen to start writing such things, I'm sure a space can be found to house it.

Normally, with this sort of thing, we decide on one person to act as in 'specialist editor' role. This person would normally co-ordinate all the contributors of the special interest area, making sure there is new content for the section on a regular basis. So, if you all think it's a good idea, let's get something started.

Additionally, if you'd like a FAQ setup for this forum in particular, simply put one together (hpstekno, you may like to co-ordinate as the moderator) and then we can post it as a STICKY article at the top of the forum.

Regarding other technology. I'd like to keep this as a music production forum for now. We're looking into more technology and gadgets stuff soon - but if anyone has any input or suggestions in that area, let me know.

Count me in..........what do you need and when do you want it?

hpstekno
05-Jul-02, 06:13pm
yeah having a sticky thread devoted to newbies and beginners would be very cool coz i'm sure there will be a lot of ppl wanting to ask where do i start and the like.......

mmaybe phunkdust would like to act as an articles co ordinator i know he's keen as mustard to get involved with this and i'll help him out if he needs it :)
FAQ's.............
ok maybe if we start in one thread keep it viewable but locked and keep adding faq's to it then we will soon have a faq database going

if anyone wants to add something to it can email me the item and i'll add it to the faq thread sound good????? i'll start it and can you make it sticky drey?

djdrey
05-Jul-02, 06:28pm
hps,
you can make it sticky.. just check the options at the bottom of the page when you're in the thread

hpstekno

Yay! Congratulations on the new position of power HPSTekno (use it wisely...)

Excellent idea for a new forum too!

(I've heard that HPS is the master of making things sticky...)

Well done HPS? in his new role!!!

And much respect to djdrey for recognising the need and possessing the desire to truly make ITM the one-stop shop it deserves to be.

I'll be sure to stop by and lend a hand where I can.

nice idea

i'll even put aside my little argument with spectrum and play Team on this one

my band is a recent signing to Creative Vibes label also with countless releases under various guises on Truelove's lable in the UK, Central Station here in aus, nine09 in perth, and so on

we'd be happy to throw our collective thoughts to 'the cause' (so put it dramatically)

god knows WE need technical help as much as anyone

if only this forum coud steady my hands and magically extract the lead seeping into my lungs while i try to solder these friggin minijack stereo cables

oh yeah, before i forget.... long before the ease of getting my hands on an SAE audio dictionary... this idiot (me) compiled one. i can dig that up if needed... it was published a few times too, to my amazement...

respect should go to punkdust... who ive seen about the boards as Johhny On The Spot with advice, and of course to TECHiONE who ive seen about the akai mailing lists doing the same... and who of course outstrips my experience as a live act on stage by miles and miles

get these two sound-monkeys to work! :P
