So my mix ended up going for 11mins (I had done all the mixing by the 10 min mark, I just wanted the tracks to run a bit so you could hear the doubledrop haha)... youtube says nothing over 10 mins flat... Doing a ten minute mix was strange, considering I usually only play one to two songs in that kind of time frame, but it keeps things really interesting. I think it feels a lot long than 10 mins. And squeezing in 8 tracks feels strange as well, I usually play each track from A to B, so usually 8 tracks is about 40 to 50 minutes for me!

I know what you mean, I play alot of proggy, techy stuff thats builds for the first couple of minutes so it makes it really hard to try and squeeze a load of tracks into 10 min and do each song justice....Still trying to find the time to get some tracks together to record...damn full time work and hungover weekends!!

7 months are your owning those things! Very smooth, you got a good track selection and flow. Can't say I know any of the songs, but they all fit so well! Seems like a very mature set for a young bloke! I've seen you around here, but I really didn't expect you to play a set that good. Back yourself more and get out there and start rocking parties!!! Remember, a lot of the best DJ's in the world were partying and DJing in clubs before it was legal, nothing stopping you!

^^ thanks Gamblore. jaded didn't really fit to well but i thought i'd chuck it in cause i love it.
I did have a bit of play around with the songs a bit before recording to see which song fitted with each so it not like i just picked the songs as i was playing which helped with getting the mix smooth and still have a lot to learnn, but I'm glad you liked it.

yeh i remember reading Chris Kayes biography and it said he was Dj'ing in clubs at 15 and had to get his parents to sign that it was ok for him to do so :)

Yeah its funny I came 8th both times. I think using a PC is only really given kudos if you using time coded cd's or vinyl which I can kind of understand (not that I am saying I should have done better I am really happy just making the top 10).

Having now used both I would say that tractor + bcd is easier than cdj's. I can't wait to put the two together when I get round to putting the soeftware on my new laptop. bcd will be great for samples and accapella's etc.

I did one practise run and two takes on this one, this is the second take, at first I was not too happy, but then I had to take into account the circumstances, I played the first tune too long, but yes was busy with effects thus, if I hadn't play too much with effects I could have fit better the last tune...by the way the last tune is a kick arse tune...all the tunes are available on JUNO.co.uk. If I had too do it again I would probably re-aarange the tunes, I kind of did not like the order as well...never mind...I have posted my video so I did my contribution. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year...hope Santa will bring you some gear and tunes...

Thanks JKWITS...hey MCE86, the little device open up a whole world of creativity, but my only problem is that my mixer has only 2 channels, although I can connect it, it is rather tricky with the gain, as it has to be adjusted with a big gap, this little babe really need a channel of its own...never the less it seems to work really well...as I remember Richcur has one, and he probably has much more experience with it...

my two cents, (apart from not beign a huge fan of the tunes -- and thats just down to personal preference) you could of backed off the effects and layered more tracks / accapellas in.

saying that the looping & mixing were great imo

I dunno, I looked on the site and there were videos that were marked as finalists or something of the sort. Where it says 'waiting' or 'judged' there was something like, 'in the running' or 'finalist'. Guess it would have to be the end of the month for that tag to come up.

The website has changed a bit but I think it updates the info saying your video has been watched and then after a while it will mark which videos have been shortlisted and then further on the top 10 are announced. However it might not be the same since they have changed the site.

get a a cheap web cam and with its' software you should be able to select the audio source to record while it's capturing video ... set it to the line/device you have your mixer plugged into your computer and robert is your mother's brother

I record the video on my still digi camera so its not very good quality. I record the audio on my PC and put them together. For some reson they go out of sync though so its not the best method I've found.

I plug the booth output of my mixer onto the PC and record with audacity, then sync the video and sound manually on PC. I used to record live but 1. the sound was not good, 2. back then I had open headphones and sometimes I felt I could hear the headphones sound as well thru the recording, so then decided to record sound separate.

I think it does make a difference to how the whole video sounds, and if you enter comp it is better this way.
