OK heres the situation. I currently have some loops straight from the synth, but they are very TB303ish and very "oink oinky". What plugins or filters would i use to transform these into seriously thick basslines or synth-string riffs?

go to
http://www.ohmforce.com/data/products/flash/index.php and get a plugin called *frohmage* it's a seriously warped
band pass filter /morpher/distortion plug in
i'm pretty sure it comes in dx and vst plus it's a free download just gotta register with the ohmboys first will turn anything weak into something out of control
if this wont do it get a new sample

the usual, Flange, Overdrive, Delay, EQ...
go check out the frohmage plugin, v.good stuff
Some good strings are
phonetic shifter --> harmonic enhancer --> compressor
compressor --> noise gate --> flanger
just muck around with the effects on the fly because sometimes you will find a certain combination that just works perfect.

Or if you're lucky enough to have BJPlugins... BJ Wavechanger and BJ Ringmod will produce some wicked effects teamed with a little delay and EQ

a good 303 trick is to double the sample up and pan each to L and R respectively
detune one from the other, and cut a 2b shelf from the respective top and high end of the samples, with an overlap in the mid-lows
fine tune it and bam, you have a lovely tear ass sound with a gorgeous wide stereo image
also, look into the tape saturation plug-in MAGNETO which i tend to use a lot on dirtying up some bass sounds and shots ive beefed up
by the way, im checking out that ohmage/frohmage plugin now...
