View Full Version : Side grading my mixer.

As in not upgrading, not downgrading, just something smaller.
Have Allen and Heath Xone:62 - only used in a outside of my house once - treated with great care. But it's just too large for my space constraints. Pretty much bought on an impulse when it was on special. Am forced to have one turntable battle style as it takes up too much space. Want to trade up/in/down/sideways for a 2/3 channel mixer of equal quality so I have have both my decks set normally and it just seems a waste for such a kick ass mixer to not be being used to its full potential.
So...what would people recommend as a mixer of equal quality to keep an eye out for?
Will be fine with just selling mine and buying a different one if I can't find someone to play swapsies with, but not really sure what a fair price on a second hand one of these is, so any help there would be great too?
Thanks for your time.

I'll swap you for a Vestax 270a. Nice 3 channel mixer that will meet your size requirements.

if you want a fucking sick three channel mixer, the Rane Empath is pretty awesome.
Maybe this is my ignorance, but what's the problem having your turntables set up battle style?

Rane Empath
beat me to it by seconds.
I just got myself one of these babies second hand; fuck they're a nice mixer.
A far cry from the lowest model, shittiest stanton two channel mixer on the market that i had before.

I just don't like it. And it's not just that, I've just started to realise how fucking OTT that beast is for only ever playing at home on 2 decks.
Was thinking the Rane Empath too. Deffiantely on par in terms of quality, and they shit all over the DJM 400, right?
cosmic_seadog - what't difference between the PMC 270a and the PVC 275 - they look the same? Nice mixers, not really a fair deal for a straight swap though. Also I'd need to properly measure my shit up and figure out how much room I have to play with.

i've got a nice kenwood mix-master i'd be happy to swap (you'd have to sweeten your end of the deal with a bit of cash though)

I think you'll regret it too, but something else you could look at is a Nuo 3
Hate to be a pedant, but I'd call that a cross grade. My mind's eye produced this when I saw side grade:

Actually, that'd be a good way to shave some bulk off the old girl.
And now: My Two Cents. Keep it ya mug! It's the best mixer in the world (in my opinion :P). Get a bigger bench.

They look awkward to me...probably just as I'm used to faders...but still, seems limiting...no lights to show you how strong the channel being pre-cue'ed is...seems, umm, simplistic.
What would be the actual benefits of a mixer like that?

That is a MEGA upgrade on a xone, you would have to fork out a butt load more cash, but would be seriously worth it. It looks awesome, would love one, but could never afford it.
Kiwi, another benifit besides sound quality is that there is a built in iscolator.
^^^ apparently mr jerome barber builds every mixer after the order has been placed and it takes about a week, how cool is that, purchasing something that hasn't been built yet.

Yeah you can put special orders in as well if you want extras added or removed. I love the fact that you can just chuck it in your record bag and take it with you!!! How cool is that!!!
They use one of these at Djoon in Paris and they have some massive names play there quite frequently.
