Anyone experienced electric shocks when using SSL?

I checked out the Serato forum and it doesn’t seem to be a widespread problem, and they also didn’t offer any real solution to the problem.

I am using 2xCDJ400, DJM400, Powerbook G4 and SSL. I also use the 9V AC/DC adaptor into the SSL control box so that I can play CDs when my mac is not hooked up. When the mac is hooked up, I get small electric shocks mostly from the small countersunk screws that are used to hold the mixer together (but also from sometimes from the CDJs). I also notice some sparks between the mac USB port and the CD player’s USB cable (via a hub) when plugging the USB in. This has been very annoying.

Any ideas?

It's the mac. Floating power supply.

Wear thongs or install carpet? (I'm serious)

Funny you say that. My floor is exposed concrete. But I'm sure I've worn thongs and no difference... although I'm not that sure. I'll try it out and will report back.

Yeah my home theatre (on tiles) used to shock the fuck out of me every time I turned it on. Kept a pair of thongs handy next to the amp and no more shocks :)

Some sort of widget to electrically isolate that USB connection could be good. That'd seperate the mac ground from the rest of the gear.

Not sure if a custom cable with the 5V lines cut would work, as the D- line could potentially provide a route.
