"for my ready to go MS mastering processor built in R3.07.008 for macintosh, download

http://www.xs.com.au/msprocv5.ens"

yeah..this splitting MID/ L&R and compressing them differently & pullin' 'em back together is the REAL approach. This is what Don the man Bartley at 301 does.(he's the master master!) :)

I'm real keen on this thing - but I can't seem to access the download...
I just get an html page full of script. (or a text document ) does it work stand-alone or as a plugin?

Any help would be really appreciated polarbear as i REALLy like the sound of your ready made tool for mac.! ;D HELP me get it please!!!

cheers

sorry djbc - it's a Reaktor 3 ensemble.

click and hold on the link, download it to disk, and then drag and drop onto your reaktor icon....

maybe.... if you have reaktor.

there are plugins that do MS --> LR and LR --> MS. so, to do what I'm suggesting;

(the following is for LOGIC)

take stereo finished track.

place insert LR --> MS plugin over audio track (MDA panner, Dir'Mixer)
send outputs of audio track to bus 1,2

bus 1,2 must be individual mono busses.

put same processing over these busses - say HPF, EQ, Compressor. must be the same signal path so that any latency introduced is the same.

muck around! including changing level of S vs M (more S) etc.

send these plugins to outputs 1,2

put outputs 1,2 in stereo mode, and insert LR-->MS plugin

voila!

I haven't tried this, but there's no reason why it wouldn't work

yeah.. I checked out reaktor..looks like an excellent piece of s'ware... but I'm not really up for another learning curve at the moment... (& not much oint really when I have a rockn PTools TDM)

I might have to investigate to see if there's a plugin for Tools that I can use to try a similar thing to what you suggested for logic above.

Thanks for the tips I'll let you know how I go...

one of the waves stereo enhancement plugins does a MS-->LR LR-->MS conversion.

well, it does on my protools.

ooh which one... ??I've never bothered to look into it 'cause I figured this was only in the realms of more sophisticated mastering facilities...
