View Full Version : WTF is going on with Pioneer??

I bought and paid for, a pair of CDJ1000s mk3 on 26 April, through a retailer in Sydney - at the time, the retailer was 'out of stock' and awaiting a shipment from Pioneer.

Now, over 5 weeks later, and calls each week I am really losing it... Still the same answer each time 'We're expecting a shipment, worldwide shortage, keep calling back...'

Anyone else experiencing similar issues?

I actually called Pioneer today, and was told that they had 1000s mk3 in stock, and that no backorders were on file for the particular retailer I went through...

/screams/

Anyone else in the same boat??

Hmm... maybe your retailer owes money to Pioneer and are on stop credit until they pay. A lot of it happening lately.

Hopefully you can get a refund and purchase elsewhere.

Who is the retailer?

I don't know if it's ok to say on a public forum? I'll 'sp' it'

DJ Warehouse

They've been helpful over the phone for the last 55million weeks, but I've got no patience now. After ringing Pioneer direct, and them telling me that Pioneer HAS stock, and that no backorder has been placed with the retailer, I'm highly suspicious now...

That sucks dude :(

I'd call back Warehouse, tell them about your call with Pioneer, and give them a week to clear it up or else you will be asking for a refund and taking action.

Shah, but here's the reason I'm sticking with it - I purchased the 1000s before 30 April as there was a 10% cashback offer on, if you bought before 30/4/08.

So, if I ask for a refund and go somewhere else, I'm down $300 already.

I've rang another retailer in Sydney a few times, who has given me the same answer 'no stock, expecting some in the next few weeks..' So I don't think it's the retailer, but starting to have doubts and wanting to smash stuff, hulkstyles.

The company you mentioned I find to be very helpful (and cheap). Well they are in Melbourne anyway. I was in there the other week and I'm sure I saw boxes of CDJ-1000s on the floor in the showroom.

BMoney
04-Jun-08, 02:52pm
Yeah, they've been very friendly and helpful, but patience is gone and it's a lot of money to sit around and wait for something imo...

That's the other thing - the day I went in and bought them, they had boxes of them on the floor that had apparently been 'sold to someone else' and they wouldn't budge on giving me a pair...

W.T.F

I don't know who to believe at the moment.

PM sent..... from memory i know why they may be having stock problems.

also, pioneer may be giving you the sales line.... you can't be sure who's telling you the truth.

My DJM400 fucked up, took it to Pioneer on Princes Hwy on way to Dandenong, and had it back in 3 days. Out of warranty, no charge.

this is an older mixer where parts aren't on the shelf in australia. but 15 weeks is stupid... early march i gave it to them.

That's why you don't use old mixers.

no... that's why you don't.

some people prefer analogue mixers and analogue filters.

when i bought my 1000s and 800 mixer from jbhifi they had the cdjs in stock but said they had to order in the mixer from pioneer, this was last friday and told me that i could pick my mixer up today, which i did :) it was also one of the conditions i stated before handing over the cash, that i wanted it no later by this week. pretty bad luck for you buddy! i know how it feels though, ur body is screaming for them hahaha and u cant go anywhere else coz uve already locked urself in :(

its people like you who allow companies to make disposable electronics which only last a couple of years and are then either uneconomical to repair or parts are not available. but what do you care? the latest and greatest new product will be out with a marketing campain so shiny that youll have forgotten how much money you threw away on their last piece of shit product.

If I were you, better be $300 down, than the whole amount, go get your refund quick, or at least give them an ultimatum...I never liked to leave credit anywhere, if the business go sour, you are EF YOU CK T.

Exactly. This way I have always got the latest and greatest. I don't want or need my mixer or CDJs to last 30 years. Or any other electrical equipment - TVs, DVD players, laptop etc etc.

You say it's people like me allowing companies to make disposable equipment, but in reality, it's people like me allowing companies to make more technological advanced equipment.

Bracko
05-Jun-08, 12:32pm
 mass consumer hysteria allows for technical advancement.

more like excessive consumption and exponential investment in viral marketing to tell idiots they need the latest and greatest.

professional sound equipment is not ment to me consumer grade.... popular culture has made it that way.

1up DJWarehouse -

They're sending me (via post) a 'loaner' pair, which I can keep until the new stock arrives and I finally get mine.

VERY impressed.

I hope you get a similar result Bracko.

i have... the point of contact understands my frustration, unfortunately the store has to face the brunt of my frustration at the cost of vestax and their nominated australian repairer taking so long to get parts.

BMoney
05-Jun-08, 01:04pm
With that in mind, I have been impressed that DJWs ability to indeed bear the brunt. My wife works in a similar environment, albeit a far bitchier industry, hairdressing - so she tells me everyday about companies not supplying products, hard to deal with reps etc. All the while she is dealing directly with the customers via the supplier/retailer she works for.

In the interests of fairness, we've had a steady shipment of CDJ1000's over the last 2 months, in stock now and this shipment arrived last week. Another one 2 weeks before that. So it has to be something to do with the retailer and not Pioneer themselves. Good to see they are trying to help you out though.

Authorized pioneer dealers make very little profit on the sale price.

They make cash on the dealer rebates which makes there next shipment cheaper and so on.

Interesting... I'm still curious as to why DJW aren't receiving stock, StoreDJ too for that matter.

Regarding Store DJ, thats easy - THEY ARE NOT DEALERS. I don't know how many times it needs to be said. They are no closer to a dealer of Pioner your local Milkbar. They either Buy off JB or parallel import. A good portion of the entire 10% cashback offer was to highlight this exact point - and storedj specifically. As for DJW, who knows - thats not for me to say. But they most assuredly are dealers!

Yeah. I had MAJOR problems getting pioneer gear. Needed my new setup for a party and with 2 days to spare managed to pick it all up from lightsounds. Was a bit more expensive because I didn't have any bargaining power (with everyone else being out of stock), but thems the breaks

As a representative of Store DJ I am pleased to announce that we are now an official authorised Pioneer Pro DJ dealer! Previously we had to source the gear from other vendors as Pioneer Australia have a very tight dealership network. We are pleased that they have now partnered with us and look forward to continuing to provide Pioneer Pro DJ to our customers.
